The Washington Nationals have 19 games remaining in the 2010 season.  If they win three of them, they will avoid losing 100 games for the third straight season.  It's little solace for Nats fans that harbored illusions of a wild-card berth when the team got off to a 20-15 start.

The Washington Nationals announced in a conference call this morning that phenom rookie pitcher Stephen Strasburg’s mutant right arm has lost its powers due to recent sunspot activity.

Nationals GM Mike Rizzo said Strasburg realized there was a problem when he could no longer summon the powers of a Norse god of thunder to fling baseballs at his normal average speed of several hundred miles an hour in a recent practice.

I can safely say that I am a gigantic fan of Adam Dunn. Consistency is one of the main benchmarks for picking my favorite players, and he very simply gets the job done. He is a freak of patience and power, but the consistent production is what draws me to him.

For instance, his production from 2007 to 2009 looks a little something like this:

2007   .264 AVG/.386 OBP (101 walks)/40 home runs

2008   .236 AVG/.386 OBP (122 walks)/40 home runs

Say the Nationals re-sign Adam Dunn...

Does that mean the team expects to be competitive next season?

Quite a few folks in Dodgertown went to sleep confused last night.

Why would the Los Angeles Dodgers claim Adam Dunn off waivers from the Washington Nationals?

Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle was the first to speculate the rumor; and Hank has been around the business long enough to be considered a very reliable source.

Adam Dunn has already made it clear that he wants to be a Washington National for this season and in the future. With the numbers Dunn is putting up, he's showing how he feels on and off the field.

At this point in the season, it would be easy for Dunn to look at where the Nationals are and just coast through the rest of the season. Yet Dunn refuses to do so and continues to go out everyday and produce for the Nationals.

Celebrity gossip reporter, Perez Hilton, posted on his website that Alex Rodriguez broke a home run world record on Wednesday afternoon. (Sorry, I thought Perez Hilton breaking the A-Rod story is funnier and more entertaining then Peter Gammons doing so.)

Washington Nationals' slugger, Adam Dunn, was placed on waivers today, and there is much buzz about teams potentially picking him up.

While the fact that Dunn is being put through the waivers process doesn't necessarily mean that the Nats are willing to part with him, many teams have expressed interest in the first baseman.

Buster Olney tweets that Adam Dunn has been placed on revocable waivers. He also says that Dunn won't clear waivers because numerous NL teams plan to put claims on him, and if any team does claim him, the Nationals can pull him back.

Although the July 31st trade deadline has passed, teams can still try to pass players through waivers in hopes to make an August trade.
