Minnesota Twins: Power Ranking the Twins' Top 7 Corner-Infield Duos

In 2010 the Minnesota Twins may have found their long term answer at third base in Danny Valencia.

Valencia joined the team in June and established himself as the everyday third baseman playing in 85 games and hitting  .311—third best on the team.

With Justin Morneau on the opposite corner of the infield the Twins could have a very formidable twosome guarding the lines at Target Field.

I took a look back over the Twins' history and, surprisingly, found only seven sets of corner infielders that ever played together for more than a single season.

Baseball: Best Of The Decade

I thought I'd take a look at which players had the best decade in several key areas of the game. I don't really care who hit the most homers or had the highest batting average.

While those statistics are useful, they are talked about a bit too much at the expense of some others. So let's take a look at some other things.

Note: my decade doesn't include 2000.

Cleveland Indians Year in Review: Top 9 Hitting Performances of 2010

Most Indians fans would rather not remember last season.

Our best player, Grady Sizemore, suffered another season-ending injury.

Our top prospect, Carlos Santana, had his season shortened by a Ryan Kalish slide.

Our best pitchers in seasons past, C.C. Sabathia and Cliff Lee, once again led their teams to the playoffs while the Indians skidded to another fourth-place finish.

All in all, 2010 was a year to forget.

Cleveland Indians Baseball: Did Cliff Lee Cost the Indians Bartolo Colon?

Go ahead, read that title over a few times and let it settle in. It appears that the Cleveland Indians are not only trying to sign Bartolo Colon, but they may end up in a bit of a bidding war for the services of the 37-year-old righty.

Oney Guillen: Heart In The Right Place, But Why Feud With Jenks?

I can understand where Oney Guillen is coming from.

Someone was taking shots at your dad, and you want to stick up for him.  I totally get it.

This wasn't the way to do it.

The son of White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen took it upon himself to respond to an interview departed White Sox reliever Bobby Jenks gave in which he criticized Guillen's handling of the bullpen and his trust in Jenks.

Chicago White Sox: Oney Guillen Responds to Bobby Jenks on Twitter

Former Chicago White Sox minor leaguer and scouting video technician Oney Guillen responded to former White Sox closer Bobby Jenks recent comments about his father, current White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen on, on his Twitter Tuesday.

Bobby Jenks Isn't Completely Wrong in Criticizing The White Sox

The event I'll remember Bobby Jenks for came during the 2005 World Series. Ozzie Guillen came out to the mound and made the motion for his closer. Ozzie didn't just tap his right arm, he used both of his arms to signal that he wanted the "big guy". The bullpen door opened and the young, rotund fireballer came sprinting towards the US Cellular field pitcher's mound.

The rest, as they say, is history.

Bill Lajoie's 1984 Detroit Tigers Trade Among Best Ever in Motown

George "Sparky" Anderson made it clear, early on in his managing career in Detroit, who was in charge in the Tigers locker room.

"It's my way," Sparky said, "or the highway."

Sparky took over the Tigers in June 1979 and before too long, several Tigers had hit the highway.

Some were moved out of Detroit because they were collateral damage—entities that needed to be sacrificed in order for the Tigers to acquire other pieces.

Cleveland Indians: 10 Players That Won't Help The Indians Win The World Series

As sportswriter Bill Simmons would put it, the Indians are in life or death territory, as in whenever an Indians fan dies, you count back to see if they got to be alive during the last World Series win. Since that last win came in 1948, there are far too many Indians fans dying before they get a chance to see their team on top.

With that in mind, the Cleveland Indians need to be doing everything possible to win the World Series. Rebuilding is a necessary part of this, but the current Indians roster is littered with players that aren't going to help the Indians get back on top.

2011 MLB Preview: A Position By Position Look at the Best in the AL Central

As the 2010 season approached, it was expected that the American League Central division race would come down to the final games. The division had been decided by a tie breaking 163rd game in 2008 and 2009, so there was no reason to believe that 2010 would be any different.
