The 2014/15 MLB offseason will be ending soon and for teams like the Baltimore Orioles, they'll need to add at least one or two more pieces before the start of spring training.

In an effort to rebound from a disappointing last-place season in 2014, the Boston Red Sox made a number of significant additions this offseason.  The Red Sox bolstered their lineup with a pair of All-Stars, Pablo Sandoval and Hanley Ramirez.  Boston also filled out its rotation with starting pitchers Rick Porcello, Wade Miley and Justin Masterson.

The Baltimore Orioles have had a characteristically quiet offseason so far, but it has been extremely quiet even for a club such as Baltimore that tends to not overspend and rather builds from within.

While other teams have been working the telephones organizing blockbuster trades or courting huge free-agent superstars, the Orioles have been content with what got them to the American League Championship Series in 2014.

If it ain't broke, they won't fix it.

The Boston Red Sox enter 2015 with a number of fresh faces and many returning veterans.  The end results of a variety of winter dealings so far are favorable to some Red Sox players and not so kind to others.  With spring training lurking around the corner, here are the biggest winners and losers of Boston's offseason so far, categorized by position players and pitchers.

Winner: Hanley Ramirez

Major League Baseball's offseason is undeniably the most exciting in sports.

Once the winter meetings get going in early December, players begin signing contracts and switching uniforms at a rapid pace. Teams are making trades, bringing in free agents and bidding against one another in the name of improving their own ballclub.

Free agency has not been kind to Stephen Drew recently, but the veteran shortstop has found a new home heading into the 2015 season.

According to Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Drew has decided to rejoin the New York Yankees:

The 2014 season was a major disappointment for the Boston Red Sox, as the defending 2013 World Series champions dropped all the way to last place in the American League East.  In the process, the Red Sox traded away several veteran starting pitchers while looking to retool for 2015.   

The New York Yankees have had an eventful offseason despite not making any major splashes, yet there is still some work to do.

They have already found Derek Jeter's successor in Didi Gregorius, traded for young starter Nathan Eovaldi, re-signed third baseman Chase Headley, brought in reliever Andrew Miller and made a handful of other smaller moves, so it has not exactly been quiet on the Yankees' front.

Marcus Stroman’s graduation to big league starter last season put a temporary dent in the Toronto Blue Jays' system, but right-hander Aaron Sanchez, lefty Daniel Norris and center fielder Dalton Pompey each picked up the slack in his absence, as all three prospects finished the year in the major leagues.

The frustration is understandable.

To watch your team sit meekly by during one of the craziest, most active offseasons in recent memory can make a fanbase stir crazy. That holds especially true when you watch that same team lose pivotal pieces in free agency and not replace them.
