Derek Lowe: What's His Trade Market?

On January 13, 2009, the Atlanta Braves signed Derek Lowe to a four-year, $60 million deal. The Braves signed Lowe after they failed to sign AJ Burnett, who signed with the New York Yankees.

Now less than one year later, the Braves are looking to trade the 6′6” righty.

Why would the Braves look to trade Lowe after just one year? Well, for one, they feel they have an excess of pitching. And two, if they are able to trade Lowe, they could free up some money to add offense.

Atlanta Braves' Offseason Options: About Those Predictions...

Remember when I said that in a month I'd hate that set of predictions in my last article?

Yeah...

It's been approximaetly eight days, and I hate them already.

Why?

It's really quite simple: A bunch of revelations.

Since then, Gonzalez has become a Scott Boras client, Rafael Soriano has been hyped as the best reliever on the market, and the Marlins have, according to several reports, pulled back on the level of urgency to dump Jorge Cantu and Dan Uggla.

Atlanta Braves: If I Was Frank Wren...

I love playing GM for professional sports, especially baseball. I always have, and I probably always will.  Building my own team with my kind of personnel, and my type of players gets me excited.

I just did an article for the Rays, so I'll enter a shameless plug here .

However, I'll stop at two teams: my Rays and my Braves.

The spots in question are: an extra starting pitcher, a closer, an outfield spot, and first base.

Top Five "Brave" Surprises Of 2009

The 2009 season is in the books, and it was one of, if not the, most frustrating seasons I can remember for the Braves.

To look back at the year that was, I will make lists of five, covering everything from disappointments to off-season moves I would like to see made.

The 2009 season fell short of my (and many other Braves fans) expectations, so to start off this season review I give you my Top Five Brave Surprises of 2009.

Assembling the Atlanta Braves' 2010 Roster

For those of you who follow me, you know that I've been taking a close look at the Braves' offseason options over the past few weeks.

The 2010 Braves Opening Day Roster

With economics playing a larger role in how teams are constructed - here's my 25 players who are going to be on the Braves active roster leaving Spring Training and in the dugout on Opening Day 2010. There are a couple of additions, that, by the September, may bring the Braves back to the playoffs and possibly a World Series title in Bobby Cox's final season.

Tim Hudson Signs Extension With Atlanta Braves

In a move that has been rumored for weeks, the Atlanta Braves and Tim Hudson made it official today when the former University of Auburn standout signed a three-year contract extension.

The three-year deal is worth $9 million per season and includes a club option for 2013.

This deal doesn’t come without its risks. Hudson is 34-years-old and is coming off Tommy John surgery. The first two years of this deal will probably be worth it to the Braves, but it’s hard to imagine a 37-year-old pitching like a $9 million pitcher.

Atlanta Braves Hot Stove Hopes: Five Free Agent Possibilities

This has to be my favorite time of year. The beautiful leaves have fallen. The air is getting much cooler. Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Gone is summer—the long days, the starry nights.

College Football Bowl season is so close we can taste it, NCAA Basketball holiday tournaments are getting ready to begin, and Hot Stove League baseball is in hyper mode.

The latter of that trio is one of my favorite aspects of the great sport of baseball. That time where everyone is 0-0. Every team has a shot.

To Trade Vazquez Or Not To Trade…That Is the Question?

What in the world will the Atlanta Braves decide to do with Javier Vazquez?

That is the burning question surrounding Braves Nation on the MLB Hot Stove this week at the GM meetings .

Vazquez, 33, is coming off a career year and posted one of the best seasons of any major league pitcher in 2009.

MLB 9s: Atlanta Braves—Chipper Jones and Hank Aaron In Dream Lineup

One question, hundreds of answers. Which Brave had the greatest offensive season at his position?

Major League baseball has been asking fans this same question in an effort to choose each team's best ever collection of stars. They are calling it MLB 9s.

Here I have separated the contenders from the pretenders in an effort to pick my dream Atlanta Braves lineup. Have your say by commenting below or by voting on the MLB site here .
