Dodgers-Angels: A Showdown Between the Brothers Weaver

<!--StartFragment-->

Saturday will mark just the 21st time in Major League history that brothers will face-off against each other as opposing starting pitchers.

32-year-old Jeff Weaver will start for Los Angeles in place of Eric Milton, who isn’t eligible to come off the DL until Sunday. Jeff’s Dodgers will face his little brother Jered and their cross-town counterparts, the Los Angeles Angels.

The Dodgers’ organization has actually seen brothers face each other twice before.

Houston Astros Eek Out Win Against Texas Rangers

I'm very disappointed in the Houston Astros. Instead of going for perfection against the Texas Rangers, they ruined it.

They won a game, for a change. Must be the lucky shooting star Astros hat I'm wearing.

The Astros finish the season 1-5 against the Texas Rangers, courtesy of their 5-3 win Thursday night.

Not bad, considering Houston trailed 3-0 after four innings.

Hunter Pence, an Arlington native (where the Rangers' ballpark is located), hit what turned out to be the game-winning home run in the eighth inning, a solo shot that put Houston up 4-3.

Yankees, A-Rod In June Swoon

The hilarity and on-field pie-throwing that punctuated Yankees’ victories in May have been absent this month. So has all the talk about the team’s strong chemistry.

That’s what happens when you lose. And the Yankees, who begin a nine-game road trip tonight in Florida, are in the midst of a June swoon.

Preview Game 65: Phillies vs. Orioles

This season the Phillies have recorded two series wins at home. Both have come against the Washington Nationals. This weekend they hope to pick their third home series win, and perhaps get their home schedule turned around, when they welcome the Baltimore Orioles to Citizens Bank Park.

Bryce Harper, Miguel Cotto, Manny Pacquiao & New York Yankees

Will Bryce Harper be LeBron James or Todd Marinovich?

Ron Harper announced earlier this week that his prodigious son, Bryce, will forego his final two years of high school eligibility to pursue a professional baseball career.

Bryce, 16, who was the first high school sophomore to be named a first team All-American by Baseball Americaand has been called “the Lebron James of baseball” by Sports Illust

Manny Ramirez Is Almost Back. Who Knew?

<!--StartFragment-->

I thought time only flies when you are having fun, but apparently that beauty of an adage isn’t entirely true.

As it turns out, time also flies when you don’t care. Seriously.

Joe Girardi Blows Another Game for New York

Joe Girardi is an absolutely horrible manager and the decisions he made in a crucial situation on Wednesday night prove it again.

The Yankees were playing the worst team in all of baseball, the Washington Nationals.

The Yankees were behind 3-2 in the bottom of the ninth inning.

Mark Teixeira got on base and Girardi sent fleet Brett Gardner in to run for Tex.

Gardner stole second and soon stole third when the Nats' catcher dropped the ball trying to transfer it from his glove to make the throw to third.

The Nate McLouth Trade: 2 Weeks Later

About two weeks ago, the Pittsburgh Pirates traded centerfielder Nate McLouth, a 27-year-old All-Star, Gold Glove winner, and general fan favorite.  His blond locks now reside underneath an Atlanta Braves cap. It was baseball’s second jaw-dropper of 2009, after the Manny Ramirez story.

The Pitcher to Save the Milwaukee Brewers' Season

It became obvious during their series with the Cleveland Indians that the biggest need for the Milwaukee Brewers is starting pitching. Unfortunately, trying to find that pitcher to acquire is going to be much easier said than done.

There are good options, bad options, and options that are more wishful thinking than anything that could be reality.

Phillies-Blue Jays Finale: The Sequel to Benchwarmers?

First, let’s look on the bright side.
