I'm one of the guys who confidently went down this road last year. In the end, the result was me kicking myself for daring to be so confident.

I'm ready to try it again anyway. I'm ready to say it: The Washington Nationals once again look like World Series favorites. They were already good, and they've made themselves better.

An interesting tidbit of news came from New York Yankees team president Randy Levine on Friday, December 13, as he claimed that Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim outfielder Mike Trout would be a player he would be willing to give a 10-year contract to.

That sound you didn't hear following the four-day wheeling and dealing fest known as the Major League Baseball Winter Meetings is what made the Los Angles Angels so intriguing.

It was the cricket’s chirp, disguised as a collective thumbs up, instead of the disapproving roar.

As we are smack dab in the middle of baseball's free-agent season.  Now is a time full of hope for fans of every MLB team.  It is a period where visions of glory and supreme optimism run rampant and speculation as to who will be standing in the end invade the mind.

Even though baseball isn't being played, the passion for it remains in the heart, and as the snow covers the ground, the sport stays relevant and "fun."

With that in mind, let's take a stab at predicting what the next three years will bring for the Bronx Bombers.

For a team looking to reduce payroll commitments in 2014, the New York Yankees are not spending the offseason in the bargain-hunting section of the free-agent market. 

At this rate, it's hard to imagine the 2014 Yankees taking the field with a total payroll of less than $200 million. 

MLB’s winter meetings in Orlando have reached their conclusion, but plenty of deals still have yet to be made in the baseball world. On the final day of the meetings, the San Francisco Giants made the biggest deal of the day, signing outfielder Michael Morse.

Former Major League Baseball pitcher, and current ESPN baseball analyst, Mark Mulder announced he is attempting a return to baseball, according to ESPN's Jerry Crasnick.

Mulder retired in 2009 after two surgeries on his left shoulder and after having realized he couldn't pitch at a high level again:

The Arizona Diamondbacks finally acquired the slugger that the team coveted, completing a deal for Mark Trumbo, a rumor that Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal had first reported yesterday.

There are a number of clichés to characterize what the Seattle Mariners must do at the Winter Meetings. Strike while the iron is hot...Get while the getting's good...

Alright, maybe that's it. But the point stands: The Mariners need to do something. Preferably something worthy of headlines, as the one headline-grabbing move they have made this winter isn't enough.
