It's finally here!

After five long, cold months without baseball, the 2016 MLB season has officially arrived, with the St. Louis Cardinals taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first of three games on this wonderful Sunday.

The Cardinals are fresh off of a 100-win season and an NL Central title, while the Pirates won 98 games and found themselves in the Wild Card Game for a third consecutive season.

Opening Day. WrestleMania 32.

With both events happening in the span of two days, Baltimore Orioles center fielder Adam Jones might be as hyped as he's ever been. After all, he is "the heavyweight champion of Major League Baseball."

The Orioles don't play Sunday, which gives Jones the opportunity to watch WrestleMania 32. That'll be the perfect way to wrap up the offseason ahead of Baltimore's first game Monday, which is at home against the Minnesota Twins.

The 2016 Major League Baseball season will mark the 20th and final campaign of Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz's storied career.

Opening Day is just about here, and players around the league are preparing for the grind of a 162-game season. Of course, it wouldn't be much of a surprise if the 40-year-old has already spent some time thinking about what he'll do after baseball.

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Garrett Richards recently found himself in an uncomfortable situation while out at dinner with his teammates—all because his buddies wanted to have some fun at his expense.

Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock left the field with a fractured elbow during Friday's spring training game against the Kansas City Royals. The injury will require surgery, and it's unclear when Pollock will be able to return to the lineup.

Major League Baseball reportedly suspended veteran catcher Taylor Teagarden for 80 games Friday.

T.J. Quinn of ESPN passed along the news and noted Teagarden was the only athlete caught on tape in Al Jazeera's documentary on performance-enhancing drugs in December.

The San Diego Padres are reportedly "in agreement" on a minor league deal with veteran starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi of FoxSports.com on Friday.  

For the second straight year, the New York Yankees will call upon Masahiro Tanaka to be their Opening Day starter.  

Starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez is drawing interest from multiple teams, especially the Chicago White Sox, after being released by the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday.
