Scott Kazmir failed to live up to expectations after the Houston Astros acquired him at the 2015 trade deadline, and the lefty decided to make those struggles a thing of the past by bolting for the Los Angeles Dodgers in free agency. 

Former MLB third baseman Frank Malzone, who made six All-Star teams with the Boston Red Sox, died Tuesday. He was 85.

The Red Sox confirmed Malzone's death on their Twitter feed.    

At one point, closer Aroldis Chapman appeared destined for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Investigations into an alleged domestic violence incident, however, squashed those plans and forced the Cincinnati Reds to pivot.

Former MLB outfielder Dave Henderson died Sunday, a month after undergoing a kidney transplant. He was 57. 

MLB's public relations Twitter account confirmed the news. Henderson played 14 seasons of pro ball with five teams, making the 1991 All-Star team and winning the 1989 World Series as part of the Oakland Athletics. He worked as a color commentator for the Seattle Mariners after his playing career.

It appears as though one of the things New York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard wanted for Christmas was for veteran teammate Bartolo Colon to re-sign with the team.

Infielder Daniel Murphy reportedly agreed Thursday to a three-year deal with the Washington Nationals, per Jim Bowden of ESPN. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports confirmed the news. 

The Houston Astros have outraced the competition to land Carlos Sierra.

Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reported the Cuban flamethrower has agreed to sign with Houston, though terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
