After just one season with the San Diego Padres, closer Craig Kimbrel has been traded to the Boston Red Sox in a five-player deal.

The Padres confirmed Kimbrel was traded Friday to Boston for Manuel Margot, Logan Allen, Carlos Asuaje and Javier Guerra. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports first reported the Red Sox were acquiring Kimbrel. 

For the first time in the four-year history of Major League Baseball's qualifying-offer system, a player has accepted his team's offer, per the Associated Press (via Fox Sports).

Coming off his most productive season in years, Brett Anderson has decided to stick with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Toronto Blue Jays and starting pitcher Marco Estrada agreed to a two-year, $26 million contract Friday, according to Shi Davidi and Mike Wilner of Sportsnet. 

Matt Wieters is staying with the only Major League Baseball organization he knows.

Wei-Yin Chen isn’t one of the blue-chip free-agent starters on the market, but the left-handed veteran is drawing early interest.

The New York Yankees are in the market for starting pitching to fortify what was an improved, but nonetheless average, rotation in 2015.

Ever since fully kicking off their rebuild in the winter, the Atlanta Braves have stockpiled young arms to help take the organization into the future. That trend continued Thursday, when the Braves traded Andrelton Simmons to the Los Angeles Angels.

It was no secret that the Atlanta Braves were going to move shortstop Andrelton Simmons, but his destination was a mystery until the trade was finalized.

The Los Angeles Angels swooped in at the last minute and dealt for Simmons. The Braves announced the trade Thursday night, per their Twitter account:

The Washington Nationals outfielder was among 18 players honored as the game's best hitters Thursday night at the Silver Slugger announcement. Harper, 23, hit .330/.460/.649 with 42 home runs and 99 runs batted in, setting career highs across the board despite a disappointing season overall in Washington.
