St. Louis Cardinals minor league pitcher Alex Reyes will miss the start of the 2016 season after earning a 50-game suspension following a positive test for marijuana, per Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com.

The initial Baseball Writers' Association of America ballot for 2016 Hall of Fame candidates was released Monday through the BBWAA's official website.

Five players appear on the ballot for the first time, headlined by legendary center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. and one of the best closers of all time in Trevor Hoffman. Longtime Los Angeles Angels third baseman Troy Glaus is also up for Hall of Fame consideration, along with Mike Lowell and David Eckstein.

The small-market Minnesota Twins have made a big-market splash. MLB confirmed, via Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports, the Twins won the bid for coveted Korean first baseman Byung-ho Park.

Playoff sensation Daniel Murphy was bound to attract plenty of interest on the free-agent market following his October heroics, which propelled the New York Mets to the National League pennant.
