Major League Baseball announced Friday that it has suspended Oakland Athletics outfielder Coco Crisp one game for throwing his bat toward an umpire during Thursday night's game against the Houston Astros.  

New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon is headed to his fourth All-Star Game after Terry Collins, his manager in New York and of the National League All-Star team, selected him Friday to replace San Francisco Giants ace Madison Bumgarner for Tuesday's Midsummer Classic, per James Wagner of the New York Times.

Washington Nationals first baseman Ryan Zimmerman has gone on the 15-day disabled list with an unspecified injury.

The Nationals announced the move Friday. 

New York Mets ace Matt Harvey will undergo surgery to correct thoracic outlet syndrome in his right arm and will miss the remainder of the 2016 MLB season, his agent Scott Boras announced Friday.

During a rain delay prior to Thursday's matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs, a fan appeared to fall from the outfield bleachers onto Wrigley Field.

The Milwaukee Brewers announced Thursday they traded infielder Aaron Hill to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for prospects Wendell Rijo and Aaron Wilkerson. 

Milwaukee also sent cash to the Red Sox as part of the deal.

Major League Baseball announced the participants for the 2016 Home Run Derby on Thursday, with Baltimore Orioles outfielder and leading MLB home run hitter Mark Trumbo headlining the field as the No. 1 seed.

With the Colorado Rockies struggling this season, the team could find itself as a seller before the trade deadline. One player contending teams will be interested in potentially acquiring is star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez.

Matt Carpenter won't be able to take part in his third All-Star Game on July 12, but the St. Louis Cardinals will send Aledmys Diaz to San Diego in his place.  

Per Jon Morosi of Fox Sports, Diaz was named to the National League squad after Carpenter went on the disabled list with an oblique injury.
