MLB: Texas Rangers Interested in A.J. Pierzynski

Sources of the Chicago Tribune have said the Texas Rangers are interested in acquiring 33-year-old White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski via trade.

Pierzynski is best known for his role in carving together one of the best pitching staffs in MLB, dropping the White Sox ERA from 4.91 in 2004 to 3.61 in 2005, his first year with the team, leading to a World Series championship. Unless you watch ESPN, then he's best known for causing controversy for playing baseball intelligently.

The R-Rated Yogi: The 10 Most Memorable Ozzie Guillen Quotes of All-Time

Yogi Berra is synonymous with hilarious, sometimes head scratching, quotes, and he was among the most quotable athletes of all-time.

Today, we have colorful White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen to turn to if we want an entertaining tirade, or an inappropriate slur of some sort.

He may be rude, and certainly doesn't have a filter of any sort, but he always speaks his mind, and that has left us with quite an array of hilarious quotes.

Who Remembers the 1917 Chicago White Sox?

The Chicago White Sox won the World Series in 2005 for the first time since 1917.

The 1917 White Sox won 100 games and defeated the New York Giants to become World Champions, but with the passage of time, the Pale Hose have become an afterthought.

A major reason is that many associated with baseball prefer that the 1919 World Series, which was fixed, be mentioned as little as possible. Bad memories should be repressed.

Many players on the 1917 World Champion White Sox were members of the 1919 American League Champion White Sox.

MLBs 10 Best Relief Pitchers of the 1960s: McMahon, Wilhelm, Wood

Relief pitching in the first half of the 20th century was much different than the relief pitching of today.

Back then, it was still the general ideology of managers that the good arms were in the starting rotation and the duds were in the bullpen.

In a way it was true.

However, that ideology was starting to shift by the 1960s and the relief pitchers on this list broke that rule.

They could flat out pitch.

It's Back! Analyzing the Stolen Base: A Season Long Look Into The Art

Last year, you might recall I had a season-long series on the art of the stolen base and whether or not we'll ever see a 100-steal man again.

While I have my doubts, I will however be continuing that monthly column update with yearly totals so look for that at the beginning of each month for the rest of the season.

With that here is the first installment of 2010:

Alex Rios: Chicago White Sox Slugger Is Back

In 41 games with the White Sox last season, Alex Rios had a line of 11/.199/3/9/5.

Gross.

In just 22 games this season, Rios has already reached his home run and RBI totals with the White Sox last season with 10 runs, nine steals, and a triple-slash line of .276/.326/.470.

Rios hasn’t had a SLG that high since 2007, and his .294 BABIP (career .319) suggests all three of those numbers should improve accordingly.

Should the White Sox Fire Ozzie Guillen?

I feel bad writing this after a win (the White Sox won today, 7-6 over the Yankees), but there is indeed no rest for the wicked, and this is a question that needs to be answered.

Let me get things started with this: I'm not an Ozzie "fan."

I think he is one of the more overrated managers in baseball, still riding high from can't-miss pitching and power hitting in 2005.

His blowups in the media are infamous, ranging from derogatory terms used to describe hometown sportswriters to his now-tired "blame me, fire me" routine.

The Chicago White Sox' Shaky Start to 2010: Good and (Mostly) Bad Surprises

The White Sox are awful.

There are a few other adjectives and nouns to describe the White Sox so far in the 2010 season, but those would be bleeped out.

The Sox have had terrible starting pitching mixed with a streaky offense that can't get on base, but has provided a lot of home runs.

The question marks on the Sox have actually been pretty good, whereas, the thought to be solid guys have been terrible.

Why Mark Kotsay Should Never Start Again

Mark Kotsay has already started eight games for the 2010 Chicago White Sox, who have played a total of 19 games thus far. That's eight games too many.

Well, maybe that's a bit harsh.

In a perfect baseball world, the best players are available to play everyday, and bench players are reserved for use only in certain game situations.

Chicago White Sox Offense Simply Doesn't Make Sense

The White Sox begin a six-game road trip in Texas tonight and are currently on a three-game winning streak, winning the team's first series of the year against the Seattle Mariners.

The White Sox offense simply doesn't make sense.

There is really no other way to put it.

The team is batting a Major League-worst .222 to go along with the seventh worst number of runs scored, sitting on 74.

Okay, that makes sense.
