As the final month of the 2010 baseball season gets under way, the imaginations of baseball fans everywhere are alive with the possibility of a triple crown winner in the National League.  With statistics and probability we can put hard projections to that amazing possibility. 

The Cincinnati Reds are the hottest team in baseball.  They are playing well and getting contributions from everyone on the roster, in addition to have the National League's best player in Joey Votto.  They entered the final day of August with a six-game lead in the NL Central.

And now they welcome a new member to the bullpen who consistently sends the radar gun into triple digits...

The electric debut of lanky Cuban lefty Aroldis Chapman lasted only seven innings into his first day as a Major Leaguer. Reds' skipper Dusty Baker said he would not use him in a tight ballgame.

With millions of goose bumps in Reds' country, ChapMania began on Tuesday night with an 8-3 lead over the Milwaukee Brewers.

I compiled a list of guys who I feel really boosted their performance, or took a big step back in the month of August.  Guys not mentioned "held steady" as compared to their career norms/what they have done this year.

It's a beautiful, yet frustrating game at the same time.  As soon as one guy puts it all together, someone else is batting their inner demons.  Ah, the joys of the 162, and we are all guilty of getting caught up in the highs and lows.

The last time a pitching phenom was called up to the major leagues, he blew out his elbow three months later. The Cincinnati Reds are hoping that their pitching phenom doesn’t suffer the same fate.

Aroldis Chapman is coming to The Queen City. As if the Reds' biggest division lead in 15 years isn't enough to have fans in a tizzy, this is the quintuple cherry.

"Look for the city of Cincinnati to explode when Aroldis does get the call." Back on March 6, those words were written in a Bleacher Report article.

This has undoubtedly been the year of the pitcher. So far this season, baseball has seen three no-hitters, two perfect games, and five other no-hit bids have been lost in the ninth inning. Baseball has been introduced to fiery young aces such as Stephen Strasburg, Trevor Cahill, and Mat Latos, and now you can add one more to the list.

Today, the Cincinnati Reds are expected to call up left-handed Cuban sensation Aroldis Chapman.

A pennant race in the MLB can be affected by guys you have never even heard of. We've seen it happen before, and I'm sure it will happen again this season.

Starting on September 1, teams all around the league will reward minor leaguers with the opportunity to help the team out on the big league level. The list may include young phenoms, former stars, and underdogs who never were supposed to make it. Any of these players can impact an entire pennant race.

For someone with children eager to learn about the complexities of baseball, this Reds team is a dream come true.  My five-year-old son, who can rake by the way, constantly says, "Tell me more about baseball!" each time we watch a game whether it be on television or at Great American Ball Park.  Like most kids, he loves home runs, but is also interested in the intricacies of the game.

According to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports, the Reds plan to call up Aroldis Chapman either today or tomorrow.  That should help the mid-week ticket sales.
