Cleveland Indians

One Big Mashup

We’re a little behind schedule so here are last night’s thoughts, today’s preview, daily links, and lineups all in one post. Don’t get used to it.

1995 Cleveland Indians: My Favorite Team of All Time

Cleveland Finds Self In Last Place; Looks For Answers

Projected by many analysts to finish atop the AL Central, the Indians have certainly not lived up to expectations. With their current four-game losing streak, they have fallen to last place in Major League Baseball.

With a team ERA of 5.83, good for last in the league, and a team batting average of .263, the blame can be spread to both ends of the team.

Tribe signs Luis Vizcaino

The Indians' today signed veteran right-hander Luis Vizcaino to a minor league deal.

Jhonny Peralta: Cold Like the Weather

From Andy Castrovince's latest mailbag:

Dellucci back with the Tribe, Fans Rejoice

Our savior is back! Although it has not been made official, the Indians have recalled David Dellucci from his rehab assignment in Columbus.

The Columbus Clippers/Durham Bulls game is telecasted over the Internet and the announcer said that the Clippers were playing short handed because of Dellucci returning to the Tribe as he is on his way to Detroit.

I imagine Rich Rundles will be sent back to Triple A, so the pitching staff has been trimmed to a mere 13.

Red Sox-Indians: Cranking It Up for a 12th Win?

The past 11 games have been nothing short of amazing for Red Sox Nation.

The Red Sox, who at first couldn't buy a win, won every way possible.

Pitcher's duels? Check.

Yesterday, the teams in Cleveland saw a 0-0 game go into the ninth inning. On Sunday the 19th, Jon Lester turned in a gem, striking out nine as the Red Sox beat the Orioles 2-1.

Offensive blowouts? Check.

Weekly Cleveland Indians Lineup Analysis

Back again for its second season, this is the weekly series where I plan take the top 9 Indians in terms of OPS and feed them into Dave Pinto's Lineup Analysis Tool to determine the theoretical ideal batting lineup.

This Week's Results

Yankees-Indians: What, What? Pavano Actually Showed Up at Yankee Stadium?

Saturday's 22-4 Cleveland win at new Yankee Stadium was a stunner.

But, as most baseball fans know, momentum depends on the next game's starting pitcher, so you'd probably expect the Yankees to kind of return the favour to the Indians on Sunday afternoon.

After all, it would be the Yankees' new ace, A.J. Burnett, going up against former Bomber bust Carl Pavano.

Indians-Yankees: Series Rewind

Most of the time, splitting a four game series in New York with the Yankees is cause for celebration for the Cleveland Indians.

While the Tribe has many things to be encouraged about after the inaugural series in New Yankee Stadium the thought that they had the chance to christen the new venue by sweeping the Yankees out of their new home has to eat them alive.
