Houston Astros Opening Day Roster Predictions

The Houston Astros entered Spring Training seeking answers to several questions.

Who's going to make the starting rotation? Who's going to be the starting catcher? How many games are we capable of winning?

Houston Astros 3B Prospect Chris Johnson To Be Sent Down

After today’s game against the Red Legs, Chris Johnson was informed that he will be sent down to AAA Round Rock following the Astros contest against the Corpus Christi Hooks.

Houston Astros Blowout the Cincinatti Reds, 7-2

Roy tossed fpur innings in his last start before the season opener (woohoo!) and Chris Johnson isn’t going out without a fight…even though, in reality, he doesn’t have a chance.

'Stros at the Plate

“Michael Bourn led off the third with a double, stole third and scored on a base hit by Kazuo Matsui. Darin Erstad knocked a solo homer in the sixth. Chris Johnson drove in a run with a triple in the seventh and scored on a Reggie Abercrombie sacrifice fly.”

Baseball Musings Previews the NL Central: Houston Astros

Houston Astros Fall to Philly 13-3: Hampton and Wright Roughed Up

It was a bad day on the mound today for the Astros. From astros.com:

'Stros at the plate: “Kazuo Matsui went 3-for-3 with a double,a run scored, and an RBI, and Hunter Pence went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Edwin Maysonet hit a solo home run to left field off of right-hander Chad Durbin in the sixth inning.”

Houston Astros 2008 Review:

The 2008 Houston Astros finished the regular season 86-75, 11 games back of the eventual NL Central Champion Chicago Cubs. The Astros got healthy offensive contributions from Hunter Pence, Lance Berkman, Carlos Lee, Ty Wigginton, and 35-year-old (if that is his real age) Miguel Tejada.

Astros under the Radar for the 2009 Season

Since their appearance in the 2005 World Series, the Astros have constantly been given very low expectations, preseason. This season is no different, with many figuring the Astros will only be a .500 team. However, I believe that if the teams stays somewhat healthy, it have a real chance to surprise some people.

NL Central Preview: Houston Astros

The Houston Astros, I predict, will finish fifth in the NL Central. I don't think that they will have enough steam to finish in the top and they will be beaten out by the Cincinnati Reds. The Astros need help in the rotation because Roy Oswalt cannot carry this team on his arm.

Lance Berkman and Carlos Lee will need to provide as much power and driving force as they can. Berkman cannot get injured while in a playoff hunt either.

Houston Astros Win Five in a Row: Rodriguez and Rodriguez Lead the Way

Houston blanked the Mets today while their offense produced eight runs. Here are the details from astros.mlb.com:

'Stros at the plate: “Ivan Rodriguez hit his first spring homer, a solo shot in the fifth inning. The Astros scored six in that frame, with a timely contribution from Geoff Blum, who drove in three with a double.
