The Last Man Standing: Junior's Legacy Remains

If you weren't already numb to it, I'm sure you are by now.  Baseball is sick of steroids and we all just want to move on.  But every time we think maybe it's safe to flip on SportsCenter or go to a game, there's a bombshell.

Another baseball stud used PIDs. This time it was Manny, and I don't know about you, but I didn't have any reaction. I had heard it all before...

1.  Breaking News! (Insert baseball star's name here) failed an MLB drug test.

Ken Griffey, Jr.: The Failed Experiment

Let me start the typical “shock value” article the typical way, I love Ken Griffey, Jr.  When I was a kid, I measured how tall I was getting on a Ken Griffey Jr. height chart, before running out to play with my black outfielders glove with his golden signature in my palm.

Now, unfortunately, I have outgrown Griffey, and the glove that I retired so many years ago is getting just as much work as Juniors glove does now.

The Seattle Mariners: A Winner?

The 2008 Seattle Mariners had the second-worst record in baseball (61-101); it was a campaign of no power and no pitching.

They paid a Carlos Silva $12 million over the season to lose 16 games—almost $1 million per loss.

They gave up five promising prospects for an ace—Erik Bedard—who pitched just 81 innings. GM Bill Bavasi probably thought he was buying job security when he swung the deal, but he was actually ringing up his own ticket out of town.

A Tribute to a Man Who Played the Game the Right Way: Ken Griffey Jr.

Throughout this most recent decade the game of baseball has been all but ruined.

Since the Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa home run chase, the game of baseball has took a left turn and hasn't slowed down since.

In fact, many have completely lost their love for the game because of one word.

This one word has changed not only baseball, but the entire sports world.

Steroids.

Seattle Mariners' Offseason Recap

The 2008 sports scene in Seattle was something straight out of one of those bad horror movies like Hatchet, or the Saw Sequels.

The Seahawks missed the playoffs for the first time in recent memory, the Mariners were miserable, and we do not even have a basketball team to boo anymore because they currently reside in the 44th largest market in America, playing like my High School basketball team, who have not made the playoffs in 30 years.
