FINAL SCORE: Mets 5 - 2 Cubs

The New York Mets moved one win away from a trip to the World Series with a 5-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series at Wrigley Field on Tuesday night.

The Mets wasted little time in getting on the board in the top of the first. Though Curtis Granderson was caught stealing after reaching on an error, David Wright followed with a single and scored on an RBI double from Yoenis Cespedes.

The onus falls on the teams returning home in the 2015 MLB playoffs in a pair of league championship series, who both need wins to make something of their respective series.

The Kansas City Royals in the AL and the New York Mets of the NL both took care of business in their opening two home games, putting the onus on their opponents to do the same. Toronto did just that by taking Game 3, but it will be for naught if the Royals can take a 3-1 series lead into Game 5.

The Toronto Blue Jays have been accused of stealing signs before but never on a stage as large as the MLB postseason. Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Johnny Cueto is reportedly confident the Blue Jays used the practice during Game 3 of the American League Championship Series.

The Royals are only win away from a return trip to the World Series after smashing past the Blue Jays 14-2 in Game 4 of the ALCS.

R.A. Dickey didn't make it out of the second, while Chris Young limited the Jays to two runs over 4.2 innings of work. The Royals racked up 15 hits, and Alcides Escobar was the biggest star of the day. The shortstop and table-setter went 2-for-3 with four RBI.

The Toronto Blue Jays are trying their best to snatch the momentum back from the Kansas City Royals in the American League Championship Series' critical Game 4 in Toronto on Tuesday afternoon.

The Royals took a stranglehold of the series by taking care of business at home but allowed the Blue Jays to get back in it in Game 3. Toronto's bats exploded in their return home after cooling off in Kansas City, knocking home 11 runs to cut the series deficit to 2-1.

The National League Championship Series has been all about the New York Mets to this point, but the Chicago Cubs aren't going to let this one get away from them that easily.

While the Mets took care of business at home to grab a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series, the Cubs now get a chance to utilize some home cooking as the teams travel to Wrigley Field. Chicago is 2-0 at home this postseason, and fans hoping to see the organization's first World Series berth since 1945 will certainly be loud.

Fans of power pitching should avert their eyes from Game 4 of the American League Championship Series between the Kansas City Royals and Toronto Blue Jays, because the heat at Rogers Centre will be coming from the stands, not the pitching mound.

The Toronto Blue Jays came up with a big victory over the Kansas City Royals in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series to avoid going down 3-0 in that series, as their offense finally snapped to life and plated 11 runs.

Now the Chicago Cubs will look to do the same thing in their National League Championship Series matchup with the New York Mets as the series shifts to Wrigley Field with the Cubs trailing 2-0 after dropping the first two games at Citi Field.

And so it is down to four.

The Kansas City Royals, meanwhile, hold a 2-1 advantage in the American League Championship Series over the Toronto Blue Jays, who rumbled to life with a huge win Monday north of the border.

In the first two games of the National League Championship Series, the New York Mets put the Chicago Cubs in a 2-0 hole behind lights-out pitching from Matt Harvey and Noah Syndergaard. Daniel Murphy led the charge at the plate, and the Mets now head to Chicago two wins from the World Series.
