MLB Rumors: Carlos Pena To Chicago Cubs and Other Potential Signings and Trades

The hot stove is heating up at baseball's winter meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, as Carlos Pena was reportedly signed to a one-year, $10 million contract with the Chicago Cubs.

In other news, the Cliff Lee market is picking up some steam (the Yankees aren't alone in the bidding), Carl Crawford talks are running rampant and Prince Fielder trade talks are dying down.

There's no shortage of talent being shopped around at the meetings, and here's a list of the moves being talked about and what to make of them.

Jamie McCourt: Judge Throws Out Marital Property Agreement, Dodgers Half Jamie's

Jamie McCourt, the ex-wife of Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, was awarded half-ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday when the judge presiding over their divorce threw out the marital property agreement that kept the team solely in Frank's possession.

The judge found that the contract, signed before the couple married, was either invalid or unenforceable, and must therefore be set aside.

And, shockingly, there are plenty of those swirling around this winter.

From Cliff Lee's potential destinations to the ownership situation getting much more complicated in Los Angeles to potential trades and free agent signings, it's been a busy three days, and it's going to get even crazier.

MLB Trade Rumors: 10 Outfielders Available for Teams Whiffing on Carl Crawford

Now that Jayson Werth has signed his jaw-dropping contract with the Nationals, the hot stove dominoes are likely to start falling.  Werth’s contract, henceforth known as the Nationals’ Deficit, gives Carl Crawford more leverage than a supermodel at a Star Wars premiere.  Multiple sources are now reporting Crawford’s agent is seeking eight years and $180 million, or 2 ½ times the total payroll for the 2010 Tampa Bay Rays.

MLB Trade Rumors: Xavier Paul's Future Doubtful With Los Angeles Dodgers

When the Los Angeles Dodgers signed outfielder Tony Gwynn, Jr. to a one-year Major League deal on Tuesday, it became almost apparent that Xavier Paul is not part of the club's future plan. And with General Manager Ned Colletti still pursuing outfielders Jeff Francoeur, Bill Hall, and Scott Podsednik, one wonders if the X-Man is being considered as a possible bartering chip to fill in a few remaining gaps on the roster.

MLB Winter Meetings: 5 Things on the LA Dodgers' Agenda This Week

The MLB winter meetings will take place this week in Florida, and the Los Angeles Dodgers have a lot of work to do. Despite a flurry of moves that brought Juan Uribe, Jon Garland and Rod Barajas to LA, the Dodgers have holes to fill in left field and in the bullpen. They also need to address the somewhat unsteady production they got from first baseman James Loney and center fielder Matt Kemp in 2010.

MLB Rumors Fact or Fiction: The Top 50 Offseason Rumors Exposed

With player movement really heating up over the past week or two, the rumor mill has also put a couple of coals on the fire, leaving many fans to ponder just what is fact and what is fiction.

Players such as Adrian Gonzalez (Red Sox), Jason Werth (Nationals), and Mark Reynolds (Orioles) have all found new homes, but there are plenty of other players still on the hook rumored to be in cahoots with “interested” teams, or “close” to signing a new deal.

MLB Trade Rumors: Five Deals Being Discussed On The Floor Of The Winter Meetings

Lake Buena Vista, FL. (2:35 PM): With the Jayson Werth deal being signed, sealed and delivered, and the Adrian Gonzalez trade done with the extension to be announced later, the entire baseball world is wondering where Cliff Lee will sign.

Lee's agent Darek Braunecker today met with the various teams interested in Lee. Braunecker met with New York Yankee and Texas Ranger officials. There was even talk the Boston Red Sox met briefly with Lee's agent, probably just to keep tabs on what the Yankees are up to.

MLB Trade Rumors: Brewers and Dodgers Discussing Prince Fielder Trade

According to Tony Jackson of ESPNLosAngeles.com, the Brewers and Dodgers are discussing a possible trade that would send 1B Prince Fielder to the Dodgers in exchange for 1B James Loney and closer Jonathan Broxton.

The Dodgers are a team in need of power and run production which Fielder would provide. Fielder's HR, RBI, BB and OBP numbers would all dwarf the other player's in the somewhat anemic Dodger's offense.
