New York Mets Knuckleballer R.A. Dickey Opens Set vs Washington Nationals

After splitting two games in Atlanta, the Mets head to the Nation's Capital to play two with the reeling Nationals. After surprising everyone by getting off to a 20-15 start, the Nationals have lost five in a row to drop to an even 20-20 on the season.

The Mets, on the other hand, couldn't get to 20-20 as they lost last night behind ace Johan Santana. Now they will try and win a couple in D.C. with knuckleballer R.A. Dickey on the mound, taking the spot of the demoted Oliver Perez.

Mets-Braves: New York Loses on Walk-Off Hit and Error

ATLANTA—Looking to build on a strong performance out of Mike Pelfrey on Monday night, the Mets sent their ace Johan Santana to the mound against the Braves.

Santana had one bad inning the entire game, and it was the third. In that frame, he allowed four consecutive hits, including a two-run home run to Troy Glaus after getting the first two outs.

Atlanta Braves-New York Mets: Santana's Start Not Enough, Mets Split Series

The Mets got a great start from Johan Santana , as usual, going 7 IP and giving up 2 ER on a homer by Troy Glaus in the third inning. Santana seemed to get stronger as the game went on.

Random Thoughts From Mets 3-2 Win Over Braves

Whew….

It’s funny how long losing streaks feel compared to winning streaks.

Thanks to Mike Pelfrey, the Mets obtained a much needed victory over the Braves.

Big Pelf went deep into this game pitching 7.2 innings for the win.

Tipping Pitches?

I was forced to watch the Braves’ coverage of the game. I have to tell you, they bring a whole new meaning to the word excitement.

I do have to admit, they are a bit more interesting now that John Smoltz is in the booth.

Mets Owner Jeff Wilpon in Atlanta… Why?

OK, first we find out Omar Minaya is in town for the Atlanta series to “support his team.” Now we find out Mets owner Jeff Wilpon has also strolled into town right behind him. NOT a good sign.

Somewhere, Willie Randolph is smiling.

New York Mets Go for Mini Sweep of Atlanta Braves with Johan on the Hill

It's always nice to win a game when your team's entire front office comes to visit. You know that when it happens, you're probably going bad. With all the pressure in the world squarely on Jerry Manuel's shoulders, the Mets went out and got a well-earned victory last night.

Now they will try and build upon that win with their ace Johan Santana on the mound in a—in my opinion—must-win game.

Why is a must-win game you ask on the 18th of May?

New York Mets-Atlanta Braves: Mike Pelfrey Delivers Ends Mets' Losing Streak

The Mets won in front of Jeff Wilpon behind a really strong start by Mike Pelfrey . He went 7.2 IP and gave up only 2 ER on 7 hits and 2 walks. His velocity was great, at times throwing his fastball in the high 90s.

Minaya Traveling with Mets To Atlanta

Mets-Braves: Mike Pelfrey Sent to the Mound with New York Needing Wins

ATLANTA—Things have gotten so bad for the Mets that their general manager has decided to watch them in person on the road.

After yesterday's 10-8 loss to the Marlins, it was announced that GM Omar Minaya was making the flight to Atlanta to watch his team play.

When a GM of a team heads on the road to see his team, it means one of two things: Either he wants to give his team a vote of confidence, or he's all set to fire his manager if the team continues to lose.

Five Moves the New York Mets Must Make To Become Contenders

Former Mets first baseman and current television analyst, Keith Hernandez has said a few times during the course of the season that a team is never as good as they look during a hot streak, and is never as bad as they seem to be during a cold streak.

Well, the Mets have seen both sides of the coin early in this young season, which leads me to believe that they'll end up, eventually, some place in the middle.

Right now, that middle seems to be the .500 mark, where the Mets are now hovering close to at 18-20, following a dismal four-game sweep at the hands of the Marlins down in Miami.
