Curtis Granderson to Yankees: Trade Depletes Farm, Handcuffs Halladay Talks

Curtis Granderson, an All-Star center fielder acquired at the Indianapolis Winter Meetings, improves the Yankees’ 25-man roster immediately. Making him a top priority this offseason, however, was a mistake.

Two-time 20 game winner Roy Halladay is capable of swinging the balance of power in the AL by himself. Granderson, though a valuable player, is not.

Does Curtis Granderson Spell The End For Johnny Damon in Pinstripes?

With rumors swirling throughout the baseball world at this year's Winter Meetings, the biggest move so far has been the three team trade between the Yankees, Tigers, and Diamondbacks.

It is rumored the Yankees will receive Curtis Granderson, the Tigers will receive Max Scherzer, Daniel Schlereth, Phil Coke, and Austin Jackson, and the Diamondbacks would receive Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy.

The trade featured two big time prospects.

Yankees May Look to Get John Lackey, Not Roy Halladay, After Three-Team Trade

By now, everyone has heard that the Yankees made a three-way deal with the Tigers and Diamondbacks to acquire centerfielder Curtis Granderson for 2010.

This deal almost ensures the Yankees have found their new permanent fixture in centerfield, and it could mean Melky Cabrera might be on the trading block now.

With this trade, you also have to wonder if the Yankees will be big players for Roy Halladay like they were rumored to be.

Analyzing The New York Yankees' Most Recent Addition, Curtis Granderson

As I discussed right after the trade went down, the Yankees have acquired Curtis Granderson from the Tigers. Granderson's past few seasons have been very interesting. He peaked in 2007 with a 7.4(!) WAR season and has since regressed to seasons of 3.8 and 3.4 WAR in '08 and '09, respectively.

Will Curtis Granderson's Arrival Mean Johnny Damon's Departure from New York?

According to several reports published today, the Yankees are close to acquiring center fielder Curtis Granderson from the Detroit Tigers, in a three-way deal with the Diamondbacks and Tigers, which involves the Yankees giving up Phil Coke, Ian Kennedy, and prized outfield prospect Austin Jackson.

New York Yankees Land Curtis Granderson: Breaking Down the 3-Team Trade

Late last night, I had reported that the Yankees, Diamondbacks and Tigers were dicussing a three-team blockbuster trade at MLB's Baseball Winter Meetings.

Last night, the trade was vetoed and the teams went back to talking to work on it.

Today around 1:30 p.m., the trade was finally executed.

The Yankees landed center fielder Curtis Granderson.

Pitchers Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy were acquired by the Diamondbacks.

The Tigers were able to pick up outfielder Austin Jackson, and pitchers Phil Coke, Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth.

New York Yankees: Bye, Bye, Matsui and Damon. Hello, Versatility.

The New York Yankees didn't even wait for the champagne-drenched clubhouse to dry before they made an addition to it.

Blockbuster Deal Sends Granderson To Yanks, Jackson to D'Backs

While some sources reported it as a rumor earlier, Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated has confirmed via his Twitter that the New York Yankees, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Detroit Tigers have agreed on a deal that will send OF Curtis Granderson to the Bronx and P Edwin Jackson to the desert. The details are as followed:

Why The Yankees Trade For Curtis Graderson Is a Mistake

There is a 3-team deal in place that would send CF Curtis Granderson to the Yankees; RHP Ian Kennedy and RHP Edwin Jackson to the Diamondbacks; and LHP Phil Coke, Daniel Schlereth and CF Austin Jackson are sent to the Tigers.

This deal is horrible for the Yankees. Austin Jackson was their top ranked prospect and set to start in CF for the squad this upcoming year. In Scranton-Wilkes Barre he hit .300 with 4 homeruns and 65 RBIs. He added 24 stolen bases in 132 games. He currently is 22 and will be 23 starting the '10 season.
