The current record of the Cincinnati Reds is less indicative of the team’s overall potential and more about the cavalcade of injuries sustained thus far. When writers and fans alike suggest the Reds may not have to “blow it up,” it’s hard not to agree.

Lynn Placed on DL

The Cardinals announced that Lynn was placed on the 15-day-disabled list, retroactive to June 8, and recalled Tyler Lyons to replace him.  

The Cincinnati Reds are down to just three Opening Day starters in the lineup, and at five under .500 and 11.5 games back of the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central, it's time for the Reds to look ahead.

Optimists could cite the 5.5 games the Reds are from the last wild-card spot, so long as they also name the seven teams that would have to be jumped just to get there.

Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips left Tuesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies in the third inning after suffering a strained groin.

Rafael Soriano, the well-traveled relief pitcher who has spent the last two years with the Washington Nationals, has reportedly found his home for 2015. 

Soriano agreed to terms on a minor league deal with the Chicago Cubs, the team announced Tuesday:

In a battle of the long ball vs. small ball, the Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a 10-8 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Friday night in Turner Field. 

With the victory, the Pirates won their fourth game in a row. They have also won 12 of their last 14. 

The hot streak has helped Pittsburgh to gain some ground on the St. Louis Cardinals, who still lead the NL Central by six games.
