New York Mets: Can Pitcher R.A. Dickey Knuckle His Way to Win Number 20?

There's a famous proverb that goes a little something like this:

"Every cloud has a silver lining."

I argue that the strongest testament to this quote is the New York Mets of the 2012 season. Well, it could just as easily be applied to any Mets team since 2007, but I prefer to not dwell on the dark days of the past of my team and focus more on the dark days of the present!

Gio González Could Get Washington Nationals GM Mike Rizzo off of the Hook

Former Montreal Expo Ross Grimsley has company.

Gio González became the second 20-game winner in franchise history as the Washington Nationals inched a little closer to the National League East title.

Philadelphia Phillies: Will Ryan Howard and Chase Utley Reemerge in 2013?

Ryan Howard and Chase Utley's best days are behind them. That much we know for certain.

Age and injury have turned the pair of former MVP candidates into players who are good, but no longer great.

Their absence from the lineup for nearly half of the 2012 season and subsequent subpar production is as good an excuse as any for the Phillies' disappointing 77-74 record.

Philadelphia Phillies: Playoff Chances with 11 Games Left

Twelve days ago I wrote about what it would take for the Phillies to make the playoffs.  Since writing that article, here is how the NL Wild Card contenders have fared:

1. St Louis Cardinals: 5-6

2. Los Angeles Dodgers: 4-6

Atlanta Braves Postseason Rotation: The Case Against Tommy Hanson

What I am about to write may not be very popular. In fact, I'm sure it won't be.

Six weeks ago, I wouldn't have believed I would be advocating this. It's a reality that has been tough to come to grips with, but it's a reality that the Braves must face so they can move forward.

There is absolutely no way Tommy Hanson can be allowed to be a part of the postseason starting rotation.

Philadelphia Phillies Should Consider Shutting Down Ryan Howard

Ryan Howard's highly anticipated return following his devastating Achilles tear was the talk across Philadelphia for quite sometime, but once Howard took to the field, it was clear that he was not same player he once was. The injury has definitely left a hitch in Ryan's step and the Phillies are left with a player they owe a lot of money to in the coming years.

Why the Miami Marlins Should Offer Heath Bell for Seattle's Chone Figgins

The Miami Marlins signed Heath Bell in the offseason as part of their expensive and aggressive push to win in their new stadium for 2012.

If anything has gone over worse than the dancing Marlins statue in center field, it has been Heath Bell's first year in Florida.

New York Mets: Matt Harvey's Season to End Tonight Against Phillies

This Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Phillies, Matt Harvey will look to end his rookie season on a good note.

The flame-throwing righty is 3-5 in nine games started with a 2.92 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP and 63 strikeouts.

Harvey won't be able to finish his season with a .500 record, as the New York Mets look to rebound after a 3-1 loss last night to the Phillies.

Kris Medlen: Is the Atlanta Braves Starter Seriously THIS Good?

Prior to blowing out his elbow in 2010, Kris Medlen was 5-0 as a starter. Since his return to the starting rotation this year, Medlen is 6-0 in seven starts. An 11-0 record over the last two seasons as a starter is pretty impressive. But, just how impressive is Kris Medlen?

Philadelphia Phillies: Jimmy Rollins' 2,000 Hits Part of His Enigmatic Equation

The newest member of the Philadelphia Phillies' 2,000-hit club is a very hard player to define.  Jimmy Rollins is, and is not, a lot of things.

"J-Roll" has been the Phillies' undisputed leadoff man for the significant majority of the past 12 seasons, the last five of which saw his team make the playoffs and included a pennant and a World Series title.
