Coming Of Ace: Stephen Strasburg Earns Win, Strikes Out 14 in MLB Debut

"Remember where you are so you remember where you were."–Nationals radio announcer Charlie Slowes after Tuesday night's game

Wow. Just wow.

What more is there to say about Stephen Strasburg's debut?

The buzz surrounding the right-handed fireballer reached historic levels before he even signed a professional contract. He was the unquestioned No. 1 pick in the draft last year, jumping to the top of a prospect class that was far more talented than this year's.

2010 MLB Draft Results: New York Mets Select Matt Harvey In First Round

With the seventh overall selection in the 2010 baseball draft the New York Mets select… Matt Harvey.

RHP Matt Harvey, a North Carolina product was selected by the Mets yesterday, marking the first time since the drafting of Mike Pelfrey in 2004 that they have drafted someone in which they think they can make a star out of.

The 21-year old Harvey is almost an exact replica of Mike Pelfrey the way he plays the game, 6-4, 225 pounds, and a hard fastball that top’s out at 98 MPH, Harvey will need to develop more off speed stuff to become a prominent big leaguer.

Stephen Strasburg Debut: Rookie Leads Youth Movement to Washington, D.C. Sports

Stephen Strasburg will make his MLB debut at 7:05 ET Tuesday in perhaps the most exciting Washington, D.C. event to take place since the Obama inauguration.

Although it will not break any glass ceilings, Strasburg's debut will mark the beginning of a potentially groundbreaking movement for the D.C. sports scene.

Acknowledging the inflow of young talent into D.C. in Strasburg, Bryce Harper, and John Wall, one might suggest D.C., like New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles, could become one of the top U.S. sports cities in the not-too-terribly-distant future.

Congratulations and welcome to the 3,287th column, article, blog post, essay, profile, feature, kindergarten-free write, and poem you’ll read about Stephen Strasburg this week.

Do the San Diego Padres Have the New York Mets' Number?

I started thinking about the Padres, which is a rarity for many people.

They give me an impression of this west coast, easy-go-lucky squad, that Tony Gwynn used to play for.

I would be willing to bet that most people couldn't name another Padre player other than Adrian Gonzalez.

Normally, that's about as far as it goes.

I can't remember the last time they struck me as a team that I was worried about when they show up on the Mets' schedule.

This morning, another thought crossed my mind.

Washington Nationals in Spotlight: Harper No. 1 Pick, Strasburg Makes Debut

The Nationals may be in last place in the NL East but they were in the spotlight yesterday when they made Bryce Harper, a 17-year-old slugger, the No. 1 pick in the 2010 amateur draft.

B/R Exclusive Interview: New York Mets Legend Mookie Wilson Remembers '86 Fondly

Greetings From Orlando

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts recently, but I have been at a trade show for work in Orlando, FL. Bill Simmons thought that Orlando was the cougar capital of the U.S. and I would have to agree with him on that one. This city is littered with them.

If you are ever in Orlando, I recommend Texas de Brazil. It’s a Brazilian steakhouse and they just keep coming with meat after meat after meat. The bacon wrapped filet mignon was especially fantastic.

Charlie Manuel Must Find a Way to Correct Philadelphia Phillies

If it's not one thing with these Phillies over the past two weeks or so, then it's another. If the pitching is spot on, then you can be sure the offense will struggle to muster a single run.

Then once the hitting finally gets going, the pitching and defense begin to struggle, and you're stuck with that Padres game from Sunday.
