This isn't our first rebuilding rodeo.

The baseball-loving world has been in this exact position heading into spring training many times before, anticipating a team with a massive overhaul only to watch said team fizzle mightily during the season. The stench of those failures still wafts in the air, and the 2015 San Diego Padres are trying to avoid it sticking to them. 

It's been quite an offseason for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are set to kick off spring training when pitchers and catchers report to Camelback Ranch on Feb. 19.

Not only was there a change of leadership at the top with a revamped front office, but the team itself will look noticeably different from the one that saw its season end in the first round of last year's playoffs.

Despite swirling rumors this offseason that he might be traded, per ESPN.com's David Schoenfield, it appears that Carlos Gonzalez will be remaining with the Colorado Rockies. At least for the time being, that is.

If the Colorado Rockies are going to trade star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki in 2015, it doesn't seem like a deal will happen before the regular season starts.     

The Los Angeles Dodgers enter the 2015 season with a roster full of new faces, but the particular collection of players is still capable of advancing to the postseason for a third consecutive year.

Trotting out the reigning National League MVP and two-time defending Cy Young Award winner tends to legitimize a team's chances, so the Dodgers will certainly benefit from having Clayton Kershaw on their side.

Ryan Vogelsong's performance regressed in his past two years with the San Francisco Giants, but that didn't stop the reigning World Series champions from bringing the veteran starting pitcher back on a one-year deal.

If case you haven’t been paying attention, the San Diego Padres and first-time general manager A.J. Preller have been busy this offseason.

Since the beginning of December, the Padres have added some of baseball’s premier right-handed power hitters through trades in outfielders Justin Upton, Matt Kemp and Wil Myers, as well as catcher Derek Norris.

The Los Angeles Dodgers have nearly filled their roster. Their depth chart is balanced and complete, with multiple quality options at many positions. The biggest potential weakness is an injury in the middle infield, as Darwin Barney and Justin Turner are competent players but would be stretched too far if given extended playing time.
