Ryan Vogelsong pitched like the Vogelsong of old during the San Francisco Giants' last homestand. He allowed two runs on eight hits and two walks over 15 innings while striking out 10. He's delivered a quality start in three of his four outings since returning from the disabled list.

The hits just keep on coming for the San Francisco Giants this season. Starting pitcher Matt Cain will be the latest Bay Area star to go on the disabled list.

The San Francisco Giants' minor league system is teeming with young outfielders, all of whom have the potential to play for the big leagues one day.

As B/R featured columnist J.J. Schoch wrote, the Giants' current outfield is one of the worst in baseball. Hope lies in the minor league system, with five players who could contribute down the road.

On Tuesday, the Padres placed third baseman Chase Headley on revocable waivers, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. This is probably not big news. But if he passes through unclaimed, it can certainly be.

At least that's what some folks in the media and Los Angeles Dodgers fans thought when he broke into MLB.

But now one has to wonder if the Puig honeymoon is over, and if he'll start to be seen as someone who may not be the next greatest thing.

While baseball award predictions are usually thwarted by hot Septembers, cold Septembers and injuries, one cannot deny the fun of it.

The 2013 NL Cy Young race is a particularly interesting debate, since they are a few very good hurlers taking the mound every fifth day, but no clear-cut favorite.

There are so many good NL pitchers this season that I knew I would insult a couple candidates by narrowing the field down down to five contestants.
