It's the Holiday season and several Major League Baseball teams have been busy shopping.

Most bidding wars revolve around heavily hyped free agents, but lower quality MLB players are attracting interest in the offseason’s waning weeks.

Michael Bourn, Kyle Lohse, Adam Laroche and Rafael Soriano round out some of the bigger names left in free-agency, but they are not drawing as much attention from teams weary of doling out long-term deals and sacrificing compensation draft picks.

That leaves smaller role players getting the star treatment from teams looking for a cheap veteran to temporarily fill a hole.

Michael Bourn and Adam LaRoche are the top remaining hitters still available, but there is a sharp drop-off after them as far as legitimate impact bats.

That said, here is a look at the top  remaining hitters on the free-agent market, as well as the latest news and rumors surrounding their potential landing spots.

New York Mets: 5 Make or Break Players for the Club in 2013

"When you have no expectations, you'll never be disappointed." Those were the words of Vince Vaughn during his role as Peter LaFleur in the movie Dodgeball.

So, if the New York Mets enter the 2013 season with the intention of being mediocre while waiting until their bevy of talented prospects are ready to contribute, then the season will be the fifth consecutive sub-.500 campaign to begin the Citi Field era.

Merry Christmas: Holiday Gifts for the Nice (and Naughty)

Wax up the sleigh. Check it for flight. Shine St. Nick’s boots. Make sure Rudy’s nose is bright and squeaky clean.

Test the GPS. Gather the weather reports. Check the sack for rips. Tell Mrs. C not to wait up.
It’s gonna be another long night, but then it always is on December 24.

The jolly, old, fat man is set to make his annual trek. Chimneys the world over wait. Fireplaces are about to be pounced on.

12 MLB Superstars' Kryptonite They Still Need to Learn to Overcome

The top 12 MLB players got to where they are for one simple reason—great skill.

They took that skill and excelled on the diamond to the point that most of them are perennial All-Stars. Some could even end up in baseball's Hall of Fame.

But even the best of the best have weaknesses. Opponents work to find those weaknesses and exploit them as often as they can.
