Everyone's entitled to a bad day at the office, but with time seemingly moving faster—after all, next week will be mid-September already—this is just about the worst possible time for a baseball player to have one of those days.

The stretch run has arrived, and a team's playoff hopes can be dashed by a streak of ugliness, both on and off the field, as we'll examine on the pages that follow. Of course, players on contending clubs aren't the only ones capable of delivering a stinker of a performance or falling into a funk.

We didn't get the biggest, most significant drama of the MLB week until nearly the end. And we thank everyone involved for that.

The New York Mets' Matt Harvey is at the center of it, along with agent Scott Boras. That makes this perfect for nationwide attention and debate, so we'll get into that shortly.

Every year in September, the MLB coaching carousel begins to heat up. As the hot seat becomes unbearable, we'll take a look at a handful of disappointing managers who won't return in 2016.

For MLB fans, the final month of the regular season is always filled with memorable excitement and drama. 

But before we get too deep into the stretch run, let's take a look at all 30 MLB teams and their most intriguing storylines over the season's final weeks. 

It's that time of year again.

The stadiums are packed, beer is cold and pennant races are in full swing. There will be plenty of September call-ups who will have a huge impact and some who won't.

Today, we're only focusing on those call-ups who are potentially in line to make waves down the stretch.

More than one full month remains until we can know anything for sure when it comes to baseball's postseason.

The second wild-card berth keeps several teams mathematically and realistically alive deep into September, and this year possibly into early October as the regular-season stretches into a seventh month on the baseball calendar.

But as we step into the final month(ish), we can be pretty confident in some of the postseason participants hanging on to their spots through the next four-plus weeks of the regular season.

The 2015 MLB waiver trade deadline provided contending clubs with a last chance to find the elusive missing pieces they need.

Some teams made great use of the opportunity. The Texas Rangers snagged Mike Napoli, and the San Francisco Giants grabbed Marlon Byrd and Alejandro De Aza, per Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

This MLB season has produced a youth infusion unlike any other in recent memory, with almost every team calling up their top prospects and watching them make an immediate impact.

While studs like Kris Bryant, Miguel Sano, Carlos Correa and Noah Syndergaard have already broken through to the big leagues, more prospects will find their ways in the majors when rosters expand. Many September call-ups will have the opportunity to influence the playoff races in each respective league and make a positive first impression moving forward.
