From trying to figure out if stars like Johnny Cueto will get traded to determining which contenders are actually for real, all sorts of unanswered questions remain as MLB's midseason approaches.

For the vast majority of teams, the biggest burning question relates to the trade deadline. Trade season is already underway, but many teams have yet to determine whether they'll be buying or selling.

The Washington Nationals' erratic first half of the season has been a learning experience for the fans as they come to grips with a team that may not, after all, be the first-ever 162-game winner, and for the clubhouse staff as they conduct detergent-related science experiments to get chocolate sauce out of jersey fabric. 

One of Bud Selig’s primary goals in adding a second wild-card playoff spot to both leagues was to put more teams in postseason contention, creating more excitement and fan interest throughout the summer.

A consequence of achieving that goal has been tamping down the trade buzz heading into the All-Star break, one of the game’s most exciting and heavily debated portions of the regular season.

The MLB trade deadline and the offseason winter meetings get plenty of attention as teams look to bolster their rosters with big signings or trades, but the key to sustained success is still developing homegrown talent.

On the heels of the 2015 MLB draft, and with a number of notable prospect call-ups made around the league in recent weeks, let's take a look at the best homegrown talent on each MLB roster.

First, here are a few items of note regarding who was eligible for this list:

A total of 56 players involved in this year's College World Series were selected in MLB's recently completed draft, some more notable than others. From the top overall selection to those whose names weren't called until late on Day 3, all three days of the draft are represented in Omaha, Nebraska.

After 40 rounds of the 2015 MLB draft, the New York Mets' already strong farm system could be that much stronger now.

The Cincinnati Reds are down to just three Opening Day starters in the lineup, and at five under .500 and 11.5 games back of the St. Louis Cardinals in the NL Central, it's time for the Reds to look ahead.

Optimists could cite the 5.5 games the Reds are from the last wild-card spot, so long as they also name the seven teams that would have to be jumped just to get there.

While most of the top amateur talent available was selected on Day 1 of the Major League Baseball draft, history tells us that difference-makers can be found on Day 2 of the proceedings, which encompasses Rounds 3 through 10.

With the summer fully upon us, trade whispers will begin to turn into shouts and hollers around MLB.

With that being said, rumors are already beginning to circulate regarding the players most likely to be moved at the deadline. 

Every team's circumstance is different, but teams like the Philadelphia Phillies and the Oakland A's seem destined to be sellers at the trade deadline. Therefore, assets like Cole Hamels, Ryan Howard, Scott Kazmir and Ben Zobrist figure to be at the forefront of this summer's trade discussions. 

The Mets have struggled over the past week against the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres. They are currently in the middle of a four-game series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks.
