The new year is officially here, but we are still a couple months away from the start of the 2015 MLB season. If the offseason to this point is any indication, there will be plenty more action between now and that magical day when pitchers and catchers report to spring training.

Decisions from Max Scherzer and James Shields will undoubtedly shake things up, but for now, let's take a look at how all 30 teams stand at the beginning of 2015.

Thank goodness three new members were elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014. If they hadn't been, the 2015 ballot would have featured as much Cooperstown-worthy talent as Cooperstown itself.

OK, maybe that's an exaggeration. But this isn't: Even after last year's selections, the 2015 ballot might be as loaded as the 2014 ballot.

With 2015 finally upon us, MLB general managers are in the stretch run of preparations prior to the beginning of spring training. As such, there is an ample amount of buzz and speculation regarding each franchise.

That makes this a fine time to play a round of Fact or Fiction with the latest news.

While James Shields is a very good starter who can handle pitching at the top of a rotation, he's not quite the prize that fellow free-agent right-hander Max Scherzer is. That's why for all the intrigue, guesswork and speculation over where Shields might wind up, everything in that realm is much more compelling when it comes to Scherzer.

Despite graduating a host of players to the big leagues last season, the Boston Red Sox enter 2015 with one of the finest collections of talent in the sport thanks to an aggressive draft strategy and outstanding player development.

Let's be honest: New Year's resolutions almost never work out. Of course, that's no reason not to make them in the first place. 

Looking around the big leagues, there are resolutions—both big and small, bold and not so bold—that all 30 MLB clubs need to be making. 

With 2015 set to begin, the Arizona Diamondbacks have issues to address that ailed them throughout this past season. 

The D-Backs 2014 season ended 64-98—the worst record in the MLB.

However, several injuries could be to blame for such a poor year—Paul Goldschmidt, Patrick Corbin, A.J. Pollock and Mark Trumbo, to name a few.

General managers around MLB have reached the point where the available free agents are largely unimpressive, forcing them to focus on trades as a means to improve their rosters.

In one of the busiest MLB offseasons in recent memory, teams have wasted little time crossing items off of their winter to-do list.

However, as we get set to flip the calendar over to 2015, all 30 teams still have at least a couple of areas to focus on between now and the start of spring training.

Whether it is plugging a roster hole with a free-agent signing, trading off an expensive or unnecessary roster piece or extending a player ahead of free agency, every team has something left to cross off this offseason.
