Theo Epstein's 10 Worst Free Agent Signings with the Red Sox

Theo Epstein, the architect and GM of two World Championships, has been a master at his craft.

He has built the Boston Red Sox through the farm system and some of the gutsiest trades in Sox history.

But, he has shown flaws under his reign and the most glaring has been his free agent signings.

Epstein has had gems like David Ortiz, Mike Timlin and Bill Mueller.

Yet, he's whiffed on most of his signings.

Here is a look at the Top 10 worst free agent signings under his helm.

Going to My Happy Place: A Look at Red Sox Prospects

While I stayed up late last night and watched Jon Lester collapse again with a 4-0 lead against the Mariners, I was incredibly frustrated.  Between Lester, Josh Beckett and David Ortiz, the core of the Red Sox, neither are performing well.

So, I needed to find my 'Happy Place'.  Who can help save the Red Sox?  I thought, let's go farming and take a look at the Red Sox top prospects.  What does Theo Epstein have in his system?

Carter's MLB Power Rankings (April 26)

Here, I give you my MLB power rankings through week 3 of the 2009 season.

1. Boston Red Sox (11-6)

I honestly think the Red Sox forgot how to lose a baseball game. A nine-game winning streak will get you an automatic top five spot no matter what in my opinion. Their offense is coming together. Strong rotation, good bullpen. Life is good in Boston.

2. Los Angeles Dodgers (13-5)

Theo-Logy: Alright Red Sox Fans, Here's What Makes Your Team So Good

While I know Bleacher Report is not really for full length books, I thought I'd review a baseball book I just read, entitled Theology: How a Boy Wonder Led the Red Sox to the Promised Land.

Red Sox fans, this is your kind of book. Not only does it go into detail on Theo Epstein's early life right up to the present, but it does this in a way that everyone can understand.

Theo Epstein's Super-Secret World Championship Strategy

It’s one day before the season opener, 2009.

High above the streets of Boston, in a dimly lit office late at night, Theo Epstein sits alone at his desk. The door is locked, the curtains behind him are drawn, and before him on the desk there lies a single sheet of paper: folded once, dog-eared, and faintly yellowed from five years in a locked drawer.
