Angels' Abreu Declines Extension

Bobby Abreu was rumored to be receiving a contract offer by the Angels, it was true, but Bobby Declined.

The offer by the Angles to Abreu was a 2 year $16 million dollar extension.

Abreu just came off a very productive season going .293/.390/.435, 15 HR, 103 RBI, and 30 SB.

Bobby must feel that his good season means that he deserves more money, and he is right.

The value of a strong, good base-stealing, professional hitter is extremely high and Abreu provides that.

Especially since the free agent market this year is not filled with very good outfielders and offense for that matter, the value he can provide should go higher than $16 million.

The question is will the Angels cough up the money to get Abreu or will they just let him go, and if they do let him go where will he play?

Well any team would be glad to have him, but the Angels shouldn't give up. They should try to offer him a better contract because good offensive outfielders this season are scarce. The only few that are available are Matt Holliday and Jason Bay—who are going to be extremely expensive.

You may be wondering about what he should get in his contract, well in my mind he should at least be getting about $20-25 million for 2 years.

Do you think Abreu should stay in Los Angeles or go some where else?
