The Los Angeles Angels are currently in 1st place in the AL West and could represent the American League in the World Series.
The Angels are not out of the woods yet in the West as the Texas Rangers are playing well and still making a charge. The Angels are in good position to make the playoffs as a division winner or wild card with the regular season getting shorter everyday.
The Rangers are trailing the Angels by 5 games and the Rangers and Angels hook up 7 more times before the end of the season. The Angels also have to play the Yankees four more times and the Red Soxs 3 more times.
The Angels play well against the Yankees and Red Soxs but have not played so well against the Rangers. They are 4-2 against the Yankees and Red Soxs while only 3-9 so far against the Rangers.

Once the Angels get into the post season I think they have to be considered a serious post season threat. They match up very well against the Yankees and the Red Soxs with Mike Scioscia as the skipper play good Playoff baseball.
They don’t strike out a lot (ranked 26th out of 30 in strikeouts), but they steal bases and rank 2nd in all of baseball. They are also tops in the big leagues in batting average and 2nd in total runs. They are a team who play small ball very well which may come in handy in a tight post season match up.
Angeles 2008 & 2009 vs. Soxs and Yankees
VS BOX 12-3
VS NYY 11-5
The Angels upgraded the pitching staff with picking up Scott Kazmir from the Tampa Bay Rays. He has been very good in his two starts going 0-1 with a 1.35 era in 13.1 innings.
I think in a short series or a lose and go home format Scioscia can shine and take the Angels all the way to the World Series Championship. The Angels are built and managed for the post season and can score big or play traditional playoff style baseball.
