Tensions were once again high when the Kansas City Royals and the Toronto Blue Jays met this past weekend, with the benches clearing on Sunday.
The bad blood led to a war of words after the game. While Kansas City manager Ned Yost and Toronto outfielder Jose Bautista kept things clean, Royals pitcher Yordano Ventura may have gone too far when he decided to tweet about the situation.
Ventura called Bautista, a six-time All-Star, a "nobody" and indicated that he would bean the outfielder at some point in the future. It's important to note that the right-hander is one of the hardest throwers in the game.
Ventura later deleted those tweets and went on to apologize to Bautista, per ESPN.com:
Following the Twitter spat, Gregg Zaun, a former Toronto catcher and current Blue Jays analyst for Sportsnet Canada, lit into Ventura on the air Monday. Zaun made sure to remind Ventura that he had recently been sent to the minors because he had struggled so mightily this season.
If Ventura doesn't take kindly to what Zaun said in the rant, the analyst made sure to let the pitcher know where he could find him.
