Pitching Matchup: R.A. Dickey (11-11, 3.91 ERA) vs. Derek Holland (4-3, 4.91 ERA)
A day after Troy Tulowitzki drove in four runs to extend the Toronto Blue Jays' season, the squad sends R.A. Dickey to the mound for another must-win clash against the Texas Rangers in Game 4 of the American League Division Series.
For the Rangers, who hold a 2-1 edge in the series, Derek Holland gets the nod at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. In 13 career outings—including four starts—the lefty has never lost in October.
For his part, Dickey was nearly untouchable in the second half. In 15 starts following the Midsummer Classic, the knuckleballer was flat-out nasty, reeling off an 8-1 record and a 2.80 ERA. And the 40-year-old isn't the only Blue Jays starter available for the matinee.
According to Shi Davidi of Sportsnet, manager John Gibbons will "likely" be able to call on David Price and Marcus Stroman out of the bullpen.
Price is expecting another big showing from Tulo in Game 4.
"We all know the type of player that Troy Tulowitzki is, and so does everybody else in the game of baseball. He’ll be our guy. We know he will," Price said, per Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.
Josh Donaldson or Edwin Encarnacion could also end up being that guy, as the Blue Jays aim to send the series back to Toronto. Both mashers have connected on a pair of jacks against Holland in the past.
