This just in: Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia has left the Yankees to re-join the Milwaukee Brewers!
Well, it works out for at least one side. I'm fairly sure that we all know which side that is, the Brewers.
Sabathia led Milwaukee to its first playoff berth in 26 years in 2008 before signing with the Bronx Bombers. The big lefty's performance was astonishing to see, especially living in Milwaukee. It was nothing short of incredible.
Unfortunately for fans of the Brew Crew, CC signed with the Yankees in the offseason, but at least his legacy remained.
Yes, I said legacy. A two-and-a-half month legacy.
While walking to Miller Park, a picture of Sabathia is visible among the legends. That's how much the residents of Brew Town fell in love with him.
Sabathia started off the season on a bad note, losing to Baltimore, but rebounded strongly to pick up the "W." He started again on Thursday, the new Yankee Stadium Opener, going 5.2 innings and surrendering one run but throwing 122 pitches.
Meanwhile, 914 miles away in Milwaukee, the Brewers have had many problems with their pitching staff with the exception of Braden Looper.
Jeff Suppan has pitched just about as bad as he can, supporting an 0-2 record. Yovanni Gallardo surrendered six runs in one inning and lost on Monday. Manny Parra is 0-2.
The Brewers are in dire need of an ace, seeing how they lost two of them this past Hot Stove in Ben Sheets and Sabathia.
Sabathia felt sorry for them and was frustrated after the bullpen gave up nine runs in one inning on Thursday afternoon, so he headed directly west to Milwaukee.
Both teams have had problems with their pitching staffs and struggled in the early going.
There is no need to press the "panic button," but both teams need to pick up the slack, especially on the pitching side. Sabathia will help the Brewers while the Yankees try to recover from his departure.
By now, you've probably realized that Sabathia didn't sign back with Milwaukee and will stay in New York for years. The point is that the Brewers need to start throwing strikes and getting outs, or they will be watching from their couches in October.
Jeff Suppan needs to receive a wake-up call. "Soup" has been off, not on, so far this season and needs to pick up the slack in order for the Brewers to be successful.
We're not asking for him to pitch like CC did last year (though that would be nice), we just want him to start winning ball games.
Until that begins to happen, I, along with the rest of Brewer nation, will be staring at ESPN, waiting for the ticker to flash "BREAKING NEWS: CC SABATHIA SIGNS WITH THE BREWERS".
