Chicago Cubs: Season Going Up in Smoke?

On Thursday it was revealed that, during the World Baseball Classic, 2008 National League Rookie of the Year Geovany Soto failed a drug test with traces of marijuana in his system.

And as a Cubs fan I thought he didn't hit anything until June...

This piece of lazy news comes as Soto was finally finding the missing spark at the plate. Could it be that Derrek Lee was bogarting the good cage time during road trips? Or was he having trouble picking up the ball's rotation because of excessive exposure to a black light in his closet during the WBC?

During night games, instead of the standard catcher practice of putting white tape on his fingers so the pitcher can see the signals, Soto has instead had orange fingers from Cheetos.

Can Soto be suspended for taking a Buffet-Performance Enhancing Drug? Maybe he could take some batting practice with Dave Chappelle and Ricky Williams?

Do you think Soto spends offseason time with Chicago Bears' linebacker Nick Roach?

In any event, Soto has certainly lost some of the luster created by his fantastic rookie campaign with this news. I am not condoning his actions, but in the wake of the accusations being made against Sammy Sosa you can't help but chuckle a little.

I was actually nervous when I heard the tease on the radio and saw the headlines that a Cub had tested positive for something and it was—pot.
