On Tuesday, The Sporting News named Gordon Beckham of the Chicago White Sox its American League Rookie of the Year.
Beckham made the transition from shortstop—where he played for the University of Georgia—to third base after Josh Fields failed to take the reigns early in the season.
After being called up for good on June 4, Beckham batted .270 with 28 doubles, 14 home runs, and 63 RBIs.
Philadelphia Phillies pitcher J.A. Happ won the National League award.
