Cincinnati-Pittsburgh: Volquez Dosen't Pitch Well, Reds Lose Again

As the Reds said goodbye to Ed Smith Stadium Pittsburgh sent the away with another loss to end their spring in Sarasota Florida.

All-Star pitcher Edinson Volquez struggled as he gave up three runs (two earned runs) and walked three and gave up five hits in 3.2 innings pitched. Volquez had four K's.

Daniel Ray Hererra make his case again to be on the 25 man roster come Opening day by pitching 1.1 innings of scoreless baseball again. Herrera has pitched 8 2/3 innings with three hits and eight K's.

Reliever Nick Masset got the loss as he gave up two hits, one earned in the eighth inning in 1.2 innings pitched.

Joey Votto went 2-3 and Chris Dickerson batted 2-2 and a RBI.

Brandon Phillips had a RBI double and also scored a run this afternoon.

Jay Bruce and back up Cather Ryan Hannigan both also chipped in with a RBI each.

The Reds end their spring on a five-game losing streak and a 13-20 record.

The Reds now pack up and will travel to Zebulon, N.C where there new Double a Minors team will play for a Futures Exhibition game.

Bronson Arroyo will get his final tune-up Friday as his face Minor Leaguer Dallas Buck who was the first player named in the Adam Dunn Trade from Arizona.
