Up & Coming Prospect, Nick Adenhart of Los Angeles Angels, Dies Tragically

Nick Adenhart, pitcher for the Los Angeles Angels, was killed in a tragic three-car crash in California early Thursday morning.

The driver of the vehicle that caused the crash has been arrested and will face charges of manslaughter, felony driving under the influence, and hit-and-run.

Only hours before the tragic incident, Adenhart made his first start of the season for the Angels.  He pitched six scoreless innings.

Adenhart, 22, was entering his second year in Major League Baseball.  He made his debut as the starting pitcher on May 1, 2008 with the Angels.  Adenhart started in only four major league games.

Nick Adenhart's future looked to be very bright.

His specialty, in my opinion, was his curveball.  His fastball reached speeds in the low 90s, and Adenhart also had a decent changeup.

He was an accomplished pitcher at a young age.  In 2003, he was named Baseball America's Youth Player of the Year.

At the present time, there has been no word as to whether tonight's game between the Angels and A's will be rescheduled.  However, the two teams meet 15 more times in the season, leaving many opportunities for a make-up.
