The Cubs Are Good Again!

What a week Cub fans!

Two weeks ago this was the most apathetic team I had ever seen, and now they are actually showing life! I think they actually want to win!

What a good feeling this is! I can’t stop using exclamation points! The Cubs are good again!

After last season’s dominance, I did not expect to be this happy to be two games over .500. But ever since Lou made some adjustments to the batting order, the team has shown signs of life.

With Alfonso Soriano being dropped in the order, the team actually has a 1-2 punch at the top that gets on base regularly for the red-hot Derrek Lee.

Lee has put the Cubs and my fantasy team on his shoulders and both teams have started to play some inspired ball. It’s like the Cubs were begging their manager to drop Soriano.

Another player that has stepped up his game of late is Kosuke Fukudome. The title of Everyone’s Least Favorite Cub has changed from Fukudome to Milton Bradley.
Fukudome is not on fire, but he has not fallen into the awful slump he did last season and is producing runs at the top of the order by getting on base for Lee and Co.

Bradley, on the other hand, has earned that title and a new nickname from me, Milton "Badley."

As we all know, bats are like girls. The hotter it gets outside, the hotter they get, and the weather is warming up in Chicago. The hits are starting to come, and the Cubs are finally getting healthy.

Back this week are Aramis Ramirez, Angel Guzman, and Reed Johnson, which will put pressure on Cubs management to make sure the 25 players on the roster are the Cubs top 25 players.

They demoted Sam Fuld and Kevin Hart and placed David Patton on the 15-Day DL. Personally, I hope Patton stays there all season.

After three months of playing uninspired baseball the team is actually showing life thanks to great pitching, Lee, and Fukudome.

This week, Wrigleyville gets a nice home stand, which will help the Cubs even more, as they are 9-2 in their last 11 home games and are 11 games over .500 at home this season.

The All-Star break starts next Monday, and let’s hope Soriano can clear his mind and get things going. When he is hot, the Cubs are unstoppable.

I can only think positive thoughts these days thanks to the way my favorite team is playing.

Remember they play in the mediocre National League, but also remember the LA Dodgers are still the best team in baseball.
