In the Dome We Trusted: Minnesota Twins Look Ahead to Next Year

I wanted to thank the Metrodome for its many great memories for the past few decades.  One can only hope those made at Target Field will be more memorable. 'Tis time to deflate the Dome and have the spirits of great Twins teams of the past move across the street, and yes, those for Metropolitan Stadium are also welcome.

Now, it is time to thank the organization for a wonderful season and look forward to next.  Get the hot stove heated up to carry through the winter wonderland, till the days of late February, where one of our favorite days of the year is upon us, that of pitchers and catchers reporting for spring training.

It's time to look forward to next season's lineup and the changes that can, should, want and will be made.  My belief is that the names wont change much at all, and they will all be familiar to us all

Hello, people.  It's good to dream of the Twins being a major player in the free agent market.  So, all of you people who believe they're going to spend big money to bring in a 15-million-dollar pitching ace, and spend money to fill out the infield roster, you're doing exactly that—dreaming.  The Twins will continue to do what the Twins do, and are known for.  That is, filling the roster from within.

The pitching staff will be fine.  Slowey will be healthy and the team ace.  Perkins will regain his health—and his spot in the rotation.  Mix in some Baker and Blackburn, and it is as deep as the league's best.

Liriano will get some winter ball innings to work on his pitches and confidence.  Duensing and Swarzak will be competing for a spot in the rotation also.  The bullpen will be fine.  Each of the pitchers they added for the stretch run will be back, and will be solid for next season.  An attempt to keep Pavano will be made; it all depends upon finances.

Third base will belong to Crede and Valencia.  The shortstop position will be Cabrera's to keep, if he wants to stay.  Otherwise, it would be nice to add a JJ Hardy-type, somebody that can play defense and drive in some runs.  Harris and Casilla will platoon at second, and we have a healthy Morneau at first.  Punto and Tolbert will be utility.

The outfield situation needs to be resolved, and here it is: Span in left, Gomez in center, Cuddyer in right, with Kubel being the everyday DH.  Delmon Young needs to move on to greener pastures.  It is clearly known he is unhappy here, along with the frustration of the coaching staff.

Gomez has good habits and bad, but is willing to work and excel at his game. With the speed at to top of the lineup, it can be a table-setter for this lineup, and generate runs instead of having to manufacture each and every one.

Behind the plate will be Joe Mauer, who will have to be dragged off the field for a day of rest, and when that happens, Jose Morales will take his place.

This organization has a great platform to build upon.  No need to panic and make drastic changes.

Stop dreaming the impossible, people.  Seems like the past plans have been working and will continue to work.
