I was surfing through B/R earlier and came across a Jeff Francoeur article written by fellow B/R contributor Ron Wagner.
Well in his article he states that the braves should give up on Jeff Francoeur, and i'm here to say otherwise.
Why give up on him now, sure he's having a bad year so far, he's hitting only .252 with 3 homers and 21 RBI's.
Jeff is having trouble with his swing, he switched from a closed stance after his rough season last year to an open stance this with hopes that it will improve his numbers.
If Jeff Keeps struggling like this, I recommend that the Braves send him down to Double A for about 3-3 weeks to clear his head a little, because i'm sure that's all he needs is be somewhere he can feel comfortable and relax.
Me as a fan I can understand why Jeff is struggling, it's due to all the pressure that has been placed on him since he first came up to perform well and put up big numbers. So just about every at bat he feels he needs to hit a home run, but he doesn't, all he needs to do is be patient and put the ball in play.
Ron even went as far to compare him to Andruw Jones, but i don't really think that is accurate, Andruw was loved by braves fans but Andruw wouldn't listen and he got worse each year, which eventually lead to his dismissal from the braves when they chose not to resign him after the 2007 season.
Andruw has some bright years with the Braves, but the bad outweighed the good and it was time for that experiment to end.
I would hate if the braves traded Jeff right now, and he go on somewhere else to win the MVP award and become batting champ or just turn into a solid big league player like former Atlanta braves players' Bret Boone and Ryan Klesko.
Bottom line is just don't give up him just yet, he's only 25 years old. Give him another 2 to 3 years before pull the plug on this guy, because if you let him go now he's gonna be great for another team, and not this Braves team.
