In an effort to improve both financial and on-the-field performance, the Atlanta Braves announced today that they have agreed to allow Dulcolax Stool Softener sponsor the team.
In a press conference, Bobby Cox was quoted "We feel that this move will allow for more regularity in run-production and revenue, plus, this product has a nifty logo that we can put on our uniforms."
Relief was prevalent in the Braves' clubhouse (wink wink nudge nudge).
Team leader Chipper Jones had this to say after the announcement, "Well, this team hasn't been in first in a couple of years, so for the young guys to be part of something first, like having a team uniform sponsor, should be huge for their confidence."
Brian McCann could not be found, however he was seen leaving the bathroom with a huge smile.
Read into that what you will, but I see it as a sign that he is excited about the extra payroll flexibility that the Dulcolax sponsorship gives the Braves.
Look for, overall, better team speed and performance witth greater regularity in the runs column.
Additionally, reports from New York indicate that Tums could have a deal hammered out with the Mets by September.
