When you get past all of the hyperbole, all of the advanced metrics and creative ways of saying the same thing, baseball is a game where everyone involved is ultimately judged by the same, basic principles.

Wins and losses.

That's it.

Too many losses cost people jobs, from the players to the coaching staff to the front office.

Too many wins, well, there's no such thing.

While we think of wins and losses as only having to do with the action that unfolds on the diamond, that's only part of the equation.

As the offseason drags on, MLB teams are busy continuing to tweak their rosters, attempting to put the best product possible on the field for the 2013 season.

Some teams are likely done dealing, happy with the progress made thus far. Other teams continue to consider signings or possible trades they believe will work to their advantage.

Each deal, no matter its scope, is judged and analyzed ad nauseum by a bevy of pundits, writers and experts who will either pan or laud each transaction.

In case you haven't heard, the Miami Marlins have traded away most of their experienced big league talent. This could lead to the promotion of their top prospect, Christian Yelich, ahead of schedule.

It's been a busy offseason already in MLB, with a handful of blockbuster trades and the $100 million signings of Josh Hamilton and Zack Greinke.

The trio of Michael Bourn, Kyle Lohse and Adam LaRoche remain unsigned, and Justin Upton could still be on the move at some point. But for the most part, the offseason's action is likely behind us.

So here is a look at the offseason's top 25 signings and traded players and my statistical projections for their 2013 seasons.

With the MLB offseason ramping up as the year comes to an end, teams are making their final moves leading into spring training, and the Boston Red Sox are no exception as they continue to position themselves for another run at the AL East.

Although the Milwaukee Brewers have a relatively deep farm system, they lack a true impact prospect. On the other hand, most of their top talent is ready to contribute in the major leagues in either 2013 or 2014.

The organization’s prospect pool is highlighted by a slew of right-handed pitchers in Wily Peralta, Tyler Thornburg, John Hellweg and Taylor Jungmann. After the graduation of Jean Segura to the major leagues late last season, the Brewers also lack a legitimate position prospect.

For many baseball fans, catching a glimpse of diamond heroes creates happy memories that are unshakable from the human psyche.

Mine being the time I met Atlanta Braves hurler Steve Avery, I can only imagine what baseball fans fans are feeling after seeing recently released and rare video of pitching legend Satchel Paige on the hill in 1948.
