Texas Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton became the 16th player in Major League Baseball to hit four home runs in a single game on Tuesday night. The assault by Hamilton came against the Baltimore Orioles and was a majestic display of his power—similar to his performance in the Home Run Derby a couple seasons ago.

Okay, Josh Hamilton's 2012 season is officially getting scary.

In case you missed what happened in Baltimore on Tuesday night, Hamilton helped his Texas Rangers beat the Baltimore Orioles by going 5-for-5 with four home runs and eight RBI.

Tonight, nobody cares that Josh Hamilton hasn't played more than 135 games but once in his career. Nobody cares that his past alcohol and drug abuse may shorten the career of one of the most talented players of his generation.

Tonight, May 8, 2012, Josh Hamilton is just the 16th player in major league history to hit four home runs in a single game—and just the fifth since 1986.

Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers exploded Tuesday night, hitting four two-run home runs. He becomes the 16th player in baseball history to accomplish the feat.

Hamilton's 5-for-5 night boosted his already strong batting average to a robust .406, and he has now compiled 36 RBI and 25 runs scored. 

With 14 home runs, Hamilton has now taken over the major league lead from Matt Kemp (12), who has not homered since April 30 against the Colorado Rockies.

At the rate Josh Hamilton started this season, you just knew that he was bound to do something special at some point in this season.

This time last week, Los Angeles Angels ace Jered Weaver was in the American League Cy Young discussion, but not quite at the top of it.

He must have sensed our doubts. Weaver's last two starts consist of a no-hitter and a gem on the road against the Minnesota Twins. He's now seven starts into his 2012 campaign, and he has video-game numbers that make baseball geeks like you and I drool uncontrollably.

Josh Hamilton was an offensive force on Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles, hitting four home runs and driving in eight en route to a 10-3 victory.

Hamilton kicked off the scoring with a two-run shot in the top of the first inning off of starter Jake Arrieta. He then proceeded to hit another two-run shot off of Arrieta in the third.

Josh Hamilton is looking for a new contract and doing everything in his power to get it.

Josh Hamilton achieved an accomplishment that's even more rare than pitching a perfect game or hitting for the cycle.

On Tuesday night, Hamilton blasted four home runs for the Texas Rangers in their victory against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards.

Hamilton homered in the first inning on a ball to dead center field. In the third inning, he launched his second home run on a line drive to the opposite field. 

Josh Hamilton hit for the "cycle" Tuesday night against the Baltimore Orioles. But when the ball flies out of the park, they don't let you stop at first, second or third.

Hamilton hit four two-run home runs against the shell-shocked Orioles. He finished a perfect five-for-five with eight RBIs.  He now sits at 14 homers on the year with 36 RBI and appears to be steam-rolling toward another MVP award.
