Joba Chamberlain: Bullpen Or Starter?

The Yankees beat the Rangers last night in dominant fashion.

A.J. Burnett pitched six shut-out innings, fanning seven batters to receive his third win of the season. Matsui homered (seven HRs) in back-to-back at bats along with Teixeira (15 HRs) homered early giving the Yankees the lead for the entire game.

How the Yankees won is not what caught my attention in this game. What caught my attention was the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings of watching who was pitching in the bullpen to help hold on to the huge lead.

L.A. Is Really Good, but the Dodgers Still Stink

This one's gonna hurt, but it's gotta be done.

There's a double edge to constantly dumping on the Los Angeles Dodgers when you're a die-hard San Francisco Giants fan. Well, if you are and you pride yourself on being as objective as possible. I certainly like to think I fit both parts of that description.

Which means the second edge is about to get me.

Because the Bums are very good in 2009—there's no getting around that fact anymore.

Hey Jerry Manuel, Give Daniel Murphy a Chance!

Over the past few weeks, injuries have plagued the New York Mets, who have been struggling to find a consistent lineup that will produce.

<!--[if !supportEmptyParas]--><!--[endif]-->

The roster has consisted of platoons and fill-ins and, for the most part, they have done their job.

However, one of those platoon players has the potential to be an everyday hitter and a very solid contributor to the lineup.

That player is Daniel Murphy.

Jim Leyritz Has "Never Had A Problem With Alcohol"

Disgraced New York Yankees playoff hero of yesteryear Jim Leyritz is determined to prove that he is innocent of a DUI manslaughter charge that stem from a December 2007 automobile crash in Fort Lauderdale that killed Fedia Ann Veitch, a mother of two children.

Mercury Rising? Temper and Temperature Rise For The Cubs In Wrigley

The news going into today's Cubs vs. Pirates game was the roster moves made before the game. The Cubs added another player to increasingly expanding disabled list and sent down Neal Cotts and Bobby Scales.

To fill the void, they called up lefty reliever Jason Waddell, whose AAA stats aren't that impressive, 0-1 5.40 ERA 12 SO in 16.2 innings, but he is really the only lefty decent enough to call up.

The Smart Moves For The Atlanta Braves (In This Fan's Opinion)

Feels like December...

Remember when Braves fans all over the internet were fuming over perceived "futility" from the Braves' front office?

It's starting again.

Calls for Wren to "get off of his lazy (intercoursing) (posterior)" and start making moves are starting to pop up on bulletin boards, comments sections, and blogs everywhere.

I, however, am here to say this: IT'S ONLY MAY 27!!!!

People seem to forget that the non-waiver trading deadline is still about sixty-five days away (give or take a few hours).

Video Replay Favoring Mets, But Possibly Flawed

For the past few series', the New York Mets have been thriving on the success of their starting pitching, Gary Sheffield, and MLB's new video replay.

In recent games, the Mets have had three home runs reviewed. The first took place against the Red Sox in Boston when Omir Santos hit a fly ball just over the green monster to give the Mets a 3-2 ninth inning lead.

Red Sox Prospects Have Earned Call-Up

Clay Buchholz took a perfect game into the ninth inning of a AAA game on Monday, May 25th.  He is 3-0 with a 1.30 ERA for the Pawtucket Red Sox.  He also had 49 strikeouts in 48.1 innings pitched.

Michael Bowden is 2-2 with a 1.64 ERA for Pawtucket.  He has already seen some major league action this season with a relief appearance against the New York Yankees.  He pitched two perfect innings and struck out two.

It's Time For Bud Selig To Become a Man

I don't need to tell anyone that the economy is in ruins right now. Teams all over professional sports are seeing their season ticket renewal numbers sliding south and their merchandise sales stagnant at best.

In baseball, the rumor mills are full of hot items about teams in small and middle markets looking to unload any contract of length or substance as early as the beginning of June (Jake Peavy) for the sake of saving their bottom line.

Fans just aren't spending the money this year.
