With Mike Trout and Clayton Kershaw claiming MVP honors on Thursday night, the 2014 MLB awards season has officially wrapped up.

Jacob deGrom claimed NL Rookie of the Year honors after a surprise season for the New York Mets, while Cuban slugger Jose Abreu took home AL Rookie of the Year honors unanimously after ranking as one of the league's top sluggers.

The Detroit Tigers don’t have long to decide about the future of catcher Alex Avila:

Detroit would be wise to re-sign Avila for another season. A catcher’s first job is to play solid defense, and to say Avila was solid behind the dish in 2014 would be an understatement—he was outstanding.

After just one season, the Baltimore Orioles may be ready to part ways with starting pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.

The Baseball Writer's Association of America announced the 2014 Manager of the Year awards Tuesday evening, as Matt Williams of the Washington Nationals won in the National League and Buck Showalter of the Baltimore Orioles won in the American League.

With a top-heavy free-agent class and some obvious holes to fill, the Seattle Mariners figure to be interested in some of the premier players available on the market.

First-year manager Matt Williams guided the Washington Nationals to a 17-game triumph in the National League East in 2014. It was a major turnaround for the talent-laden squad and was enough to earn the longtime third baseman National League Manager of the Year honors.
