Frank McCourt: Red Sox Chairman Denies Interest in Taking Ownership of Dodgers

Boston Red Sox chairman Tom Werner—amid rumors of his potential interest in taking over ownership of the Dodgers given the current squabble between L.A. owner Frank McCourt and Major League Baseball—reiterated on Thursday that he’s not interested in leaving Boston.

Writes Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe:

“’I cannot be more definitive than this,’ said Werner, who owned the San Diego Padres with a group of partners from 1990-94. ‘I am very happy to be John Henry's business partner. We're engaged in some very exciting situations.

‘I'll say what I've always said: I am very happy in Boston, I have no interest in pursuing that opportunity. And that's my answer now and that will be my answer in the future.’”

Definitive indeed.

So the Red Sox’ management will stay intact, but what of the Dodgers?

McCourt is reportedly set to sue MLB to retain control of his club, but if Bud Selig has his way, it looks like the Dodgers will have a new owner before long.
