Fun with the Google (Part 1)

As an eager and astute Interneter, Greatest Pro Bowls of all time, and other stuff is always fascinated in the multitude of methods people use to access this here award-winning, critically acclaimed sports and stuff blog.

Via the Google, absolute hilarity can ensue.

This is the first in what Greatest Pro Bowls of all time, and other stuff hopes is a long-running series exploring the fun search terms people use to get to this point.

Here are some of the best of the last couple of days …

Search: old computer

Simply put, one of the greatest images ever … a model from the 50s of what people thought a computer would look like in the year 2004. Notice that it has a steering wheel. This image can often be used in this blog to poke fun of the BCS computer.

Search: nfl mom you put too much salt in the pound cake

This is referring to one of the great, all-time NFL Films moments, when Roy Foster blasted his mom’s pound cake for the general amusement of a national TV audience (NFL Network/NFL Films recently revisited said fun with Foster).

The “Mom, you put too much salt in the pound cake” moment overshadowed a brilliant career for Foster, who blocked for three Hall of Fame quarterbacks: Joe Montana, Steve Young and Dan Marino.

Sadly, there is no salty pound cake reference on Roy Foster’s Wikipedia page.

Search: fat cheerleaders

This is an interesting, sorta, search term that routinely shows up on the blog stats page. And, you have the Florida Marlins to blame for this, among other things.

This isn’t something discussed regularly here at Greatest Pro Bowls of all time, and other stuff, but it was something that received casual mention due to this story, which appeared in an April Fool’s Day post.

Search: chivas cheerleaders

Now, moving on to a much more visually appealing topic…soccer cheerleaders. People really like the cheerleaders, and here’s another image just for your general enjoyment. You’re welcome …

Search: crusty bob football play

This is an awfully difficult play to pull off on FieldTurf, but something that can be executed to perfection when a heavy rain turns the grass field into mush.

It’s a fun play to add to the game plan when the weather is expected to be nasty. Just don’t get caught on camera running this play.

A mention here was inspired by the movie Leatherheads, which references the crusty bob, as well as the pig in a poke, another clever/silly play used to deceive and confuse opposing defenses.

Search: chain smokers

What does chain smoking have to do with sports and stuff?

This post made reference to Humphrey Bogart as “actor/chain smoker.” It’s totally random that the Google sends folks to Greatest Pro Bowls of all time, and other stuff for searching “chain smokers.” Still, we like the traffic, America.

Keep on Googling, people, Greatest Pro Bowls of all time, and other stuff thanks you for the page views.
