- Teams: Detroit Tigers at Pittsburgh Pirates
- Park: PNC Park
- Weather: 72 degrees and cloudy, 30 percent chance of rain
- Starting Pitchers: Aramando Galarraga (3-6, 5.19) Zach Duke (6-4, 3.07)
- Records: Detroit (34-27) Pittsburgh (28-33)
- Last 10 Games: Detroit (6-4) Pittsburgh (5-5)
- My Two Cents: Armando Galarraga will look to make his fourth consecutive quality start when the Tigers take on the Pirates tonight. Galarraga has been good, not great, his last three starts, but that has been a big improvement. Over those three starts he’s worked into the seventh inning and has allowed three earned runs in each start. Sadly, he doesn’t have a win to show for it. Galarraga has never faced the Pirates. However, in five career interleague starts, Galarraga is 3-1 with an ERA of 3.10. Zach Duke is starting for the Pirates, and he has been their ace this season. He is not a strikeout pitcher as he is one of those guys that pitches to contact to get his outs. For his career, Duke averages only 4.6 Ks per nine innings. To put that into context, Dontrelle Willis is averaging 4.8 Ks per nine innings this season. However, Duke continues to get it done and ranks in 8th in NL with six wins.
